Plasti-dip ideas; help wanted (black FR-S)
Greetings all!
I've been sitting here all excited to see people do some really cool things to their fr-s with plasti dip such as the bottom of the front bumper, the sides, bottom skirts, mirrors, etc. It only makes me sigh because it looks so great on cars and I want to do some of the ideas so badly-- but my FR-S is black. I'm not quite sure what to do because I feel that other colors in these areas aside from black might end up looking too over-the-top. I did plasti dip my emblems and side emblems blue, but it came out looking like a crayola crayon so I'm quite disappointed. I feel that black doesn't have a lot of options, but I could be wrong. Any help/ideas would be appreciated. Pictures appreciated even more. Thank you :) |

Remember, plasti-dip is rubber so it's never totally smooth. So with that being said, you can get some nice effects using matte black against shiny paint but it takes some trial and error. Also matte and satin vinyl can look better, but all still need careful planning and a good eye for aesthetics. Lastly, when experimenting with plasti-dip colors generally less is more on a black car. I love idea of mag-blue plasti dip wheels which is achievable also with trial and error. If applied properly plasti-dip is durable and doesn't peel. Bad applications are what people typically see and bitch about (looks cheap etc). Go ahead and experiment, the stuff is cheap and can look good with care. http://frs-tuner.skipthediet.com/wp-...Body_Kit_8.jpg http://image.superstreetonline.com/f...black-fr-s.jpg http://cdn.hawknpoke.com/wp-content/...cforged-01.jpg http://www.focusst.org/forum/attachm...htone-hdr-.jpg http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...1&d=1364770771 http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/f...8.jpg~original http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/...4.jpg~original |

looks cheap, looks fake, half the time, the crap is peeling off why not look into vinyl? better quality product and can still be removed if you get tired of it? |
Spray painting tacky colors on a car is never a good move. Unless you're planning on some bad ass livery, just leave it be. Scion owners catch a bad rep for a reason.

Leave Plasti-Dip to the people who want to change the look of their wheels without actually powdercoating them. I see plasti-dip as a tacky "mod" to vehicles.. Most if not all plasti-dip looks pretty bad. Auto-Dip, is a new substance and I feel it should serve the same purpose as plasti-dip but with a more higher gloss finish. I considered using the Auto-Dip for a gloss black roof on my whiteout but I will be doing vinyl instead for durability.
