My FRS Accident

1 Attachment(s)
Got sideswiped a few days ago. Only had 5,800 miles on it. Car is in the shop waiting to be appraised and fixed starting this week. I am pretty bummed and have been sad these past few days. Feel pretty shitty at home, at work, and anywhere I go really. Really liked my FRS. Seeing it in this condition makes me want to cry. I know it will be fixed but a part of me will always know it has been banged up pretty bad. This bothers me. Also, knowing that it has diminished value hurts. I still have like 16-18k on it. I do not know what the future holds for this car. Will I still love it after it is fixed? A part of me will always be bothered by the fact that it has been hit. I'm really anal when it comes to having things in original condition. Does anyone else have this feeling?

My post is for those who have experienced an accident with their FRS. Did this make you love and care for your car more or less? Was the feeling ever the same?

Help me through this. :( It's really emotional and psychological for me.

UPDATE 8/22/15: My car has been in the shop since 8/17, the auto body started work on it 8/19. They quoted repair at 5k. I expect to get the car back in 2-3 weeks. My first oil change is due on 9/5 so I will have to reschedule. I am really hoping they do a great job on it. Thanks for all the support. This whole experience has put a lot of emotional toll on my body. Work has not been enjoyable for me, living has not been enjoyable. Physically, I have lost some weight and been breaking out.

Mine wasn't that bad but I got it fixed and carried on. That isn't horrible damage and some quick body work and it will be as good as new.

Meh, that's little more than cosmetic damage. It'll be good as new. I wouldn't sweat that at all.

Diminished Value

I had pulled up to a stop sign at one of the major thruways in town. During rush hour and traffic was heavy. In front of me was a white Chevy Silverado with his left turn signal on. No sooner than the thought of "there's no way he is going to be able to turn left in this traffic" then sure enough the backup lights came on and before I could reach for the shifter for reverse, smack. It looked a lot worse than it was but I had some of the same thoughts as you. I took it to a shop where I know the owner and some of his people and when it came out I was really taken back. You really couldn't tell there was any damage. Long story short, I had approx. 4000 miles on it. The insurance company of the driver that backed into me cut me a check for $669.00 for diminished value due to the collision which caused around 3000 in damage. I probably could have gotten more if I had fought it but really, I was just glad to get the FR-S back. Only bad thing I can see in the future is if and when I decide to trade it, there will be a negative Carfax report.
Good Luck!

If you stay up on the maintenance and fix little things like this the moment they happen, these cars will look a whole lot better than we will in twenty years time.

And, if you document this incident with some good photos and then sell the car privately, I doubt it will affect the price any more than a tasteless bumper sticker...

Talk about the miles on it from test drives before buying it if thats original condition then idk wtf is the condition without those miles same as how you dont know the condition of your car if it wouldnt have been for that accident. My advise to you is a car is a car.

Just like how I'm going to REPLACE my front bumper. All you have to do, is, fix it. ;)

I got you beat! I had 700 or so miles on my 2016 when I rolled under my LandCruiser. The trailer hitched stopped the car before it hit the aluminum hood. WHEW! But still it's $600 worth of damage. I wasn't paying attention. When it all comes down to it it's just a car and fixable. It's plastic and metal and human's make mistake's. Like buying a Hot Lava... hehe JK Tcoat

You are right. Rocket Bunny cars are damaged a lot more than this during install.

HEY! Don't you talk about my unofficial leader! I will cut you. :P

Anyways, everything will be ok. At least it wasn't totaled. Though I will admit I would be in the same state of mind if this ever happened to me.

Looking at those pics makes me feel good about chips in bumper and hood from semi trucks.
