Is your steering wheel steady ?

I just picked the car for 4 days and I feel the steering wheel does not very steady,
the first time I noticed that is when I try to adjust the sit by holding the steer wheel, it shakes slightly.

Yesterday I went to some decoration shop and let the guy to put some Alcantara feel wheel cover, the guy pushed pretty hard especially after the installation when he tried to adjust the cover, I can see the wheel vibrate slightly.

My concern is: is that kind of force on the steering wheel can break some part around the steering ?

I haven't tried shaking my steering wheel, but I do notice that it is not completely centered when going straight

same here

The stupid thing I did is I let them installed a wheel cover with a "center indicator " ( I don't know how to say this in English , you should know what I mean, it is pretty common in the super cars )
So I removed the wheel cover 2 hours after installation, 60 USD is wasted..

The steering wheel of an affordable car is generally not perfectly centered, that what people are telling me.... Also , my Brz is new and manufactured in Gunma this June..

This is true from the factory but with a good careful alignment it can be made perfect.

The steering wheel will bend before the column is damaged. If it doesn't look bent, everything else is fine.

^^Alignment is key to getting it perfectly straight. No - there should be no play in your wheel. - Make sure your telescoping/height adjust latch is all the way down.

I was hugely impressed with mine. Especially after driving a GMC Terrain for three years.
