a mild lapping session complete

Had the 86 on track tonight at Pittsburgh International Race Complex. I host events and teach out of PittRace and had a bit of time to put some laps in.

The car performed well other than the stock brake pads as to be expected. The only modification was the Volk wheels and 245/40 Pilot Sports.

All in all I am pleased. I will not be building a track weapon at this time but enjoy knowing the platform is ready and willing. (not that there were any doubts, right?)

What wheel specs? Any rubbing?

No rubbing.

To each there own. I think those wheels look horrid on this car. Glad you had it on the track though.

Why even bother posting a negative comment? Do you really think I care what your opinion is?

I'm on track quite often due to my profession. I hope the rest of the community here is more pleasant or I won't take the time to post data.

Which brake pads are you thinking about running?

I'm going to try and retrofit an old TRD (Stoptech ST40 caliper) BBK that I have some Endless ME20 race pads for. If the BBK doesn't fit then I'll grab an Endless pad for the oem caliper for now.

I've run Endless pads for years on my other track vehicles. Expensive, but they work fantastic and can hold up to continous lapping without fade.

Thanks for the comment/question. :)

Is the endless pad streetable, or is it something that takes some time to warm up and start biting?

The pad I am referring to is a true track pad that can easily be driven on the street. They make a little noise when cold, but a few stops bring them up to temp. It is very rare that a race pad can pull double duty. These do and I love it. I have them on my Z33 and also my ZZT-231.

They can do double duty but they will squeal and eat your rotors  Good racing brake pads these days bite hard even when cold though so they are perfectly safe to run.

Endless pads do not eat the rotors down. I've run them on OE (limited), StopTech and Endless rotors for many years and thousands of laps. Their initial bite, even when cold, will make your teeth fall out of your head.

:) This is my profession. I'm not a pad salesman. Just giving my experience since I was asked what pad I'll be running.

Endless doesn't make good racing pads? Lol :) Have you used the pads I'm referring to?

I teach and host a variety of motorsports. I'm a professional instructor for circuit, motorcade ops and all sorts of driving in between; on road and off-road. ;)

Very cool. My friend does that hear at the local track. What is tough, is they won't let you take these jobs on unless you have run NASA/ Door to Door a certain amount of time.
