2014 Scion frs engine run 'hard'...
Bought this a few days ago... Put 93 in it ran fine. 110 miles on the odometer no issues till the dealer offered me a fill up and dumped 87 in it. Now it runs "hard" idling fast and harder than before...
Is it the low octane? |

Yeah probably, but your car will adjust, just don't run it hard. Put in 93 when you get to about half a tank or something. I accidentally filled my car with half 87 before but I just took it easy and it was fine. :bonk:

Ya a tank of 87 won't hurt anything. The ECU just pulls timing to prevent knock. Run the tank down pour some 91 or 93 in (like has been said) and give it a tank worth of time for the ECU to relearn. Every time you change octane the ECU has to relearn so don't panic during that process.

I once put 87 octane in my tank.
My car literally became as hot as lava. |
Ran it for a bit and you can pour in octane booster.

I once put c16 in my car, went to the moon and back in 30 min :)

Good to know. I took it on the highway and it smelled like burnt oil. Perhaps pushed it a bit?
Octane booster any recommend ones? Also, could I mix 95 or 98 in? I ask bc Shell gave me a discount on high Octane. I think the manufacturer said 98 was safe, but I saw some on here ran urbo blue. Too pricey for m blood, but w. a discount I wont mind the nitro plus 98 unleaded. |
If you want to get the last tank or mostly all of it out, leave car running for bit. If you that paranoid.
