I was an internet pioneer with my first connection in 1992. Yep, dial up connections, 3 day long download to one floppy disk and text only webpages. I have grown with it.

When did naughty websites start showing up? Must of been a pain viewing low-res pictures with a 56k modem.

They have been around since the beginning afiak. Pictures would load top down so you could cancel the image download if you didn't think it would be worth your 5 minutes to compete the image. When I got my 2.4bps modem it really speeded things up

Pron in the early days, 5 mins to download.

And it was so normal we didn't think anything of it.
I still recall the first time a whole pic immediately popped up at once. I sat in shock for the whole time it should have taken to download.

AOL Cd's and annoying dial up service. Those were the golden days....

yep! and there was nothing I loved more than waiting 10+ mins for 1 song to download on Napster

Yeah and burning cd's use to be an all day event ha ha. Movies would take days to download.

Warez sites. 4mb at a time per 4 hour sitting. Weeks to download anything. Then half the time something was corrupted anyway.

When you had to order car parts through magazine ads... Pre internet days were the best.

Or ask the guy at the speed shop to get it in for you.

And speculation on the next great thing was three lines in a magazine comment section and responses took 2 months.

Oh... And you actually had to learn how things worked and get a book to read yourself instead of just asking.

You would run the pkzipfix utility to try to fix your corrupted zip file (never worked) then hop back on netscape navigator and piss your parents off some more while you hogged the phone line downloading "BigRedRacing_USDemo.z07" again.

Well pretty accurate other than I was 34 years old and my lived an hour away.

Tymnet. 300 baud acoustic coupler modem. Telnet -> Compuserve. Play Colossal Cavern for hours. Dad gets bill for over 100 dollars. Service is disconnected. lol
