Totaled or Nah?

I got rear ended yesterday on the was home from work. He probably hit me going 30-40 mph. No air bags went off, the 1/4 panel rubs on the rear tire now. Do you think they will total it? My insurance will look at it on monday

Did the accident damage the frame? That's usually the #1 factor in deciding whether a car is totalled or not.

im not sure, its pretty close

I hope it missed the frame

Depends on your year and mileage. From my experience, It could cost somewhere from 7k-12k for your repair

Bones36 08-08-2015 01:52 PM

its a 2013 with just under 40k

Seen what looked far worse that that get repaired. Have also seen ones that looked like nothing get totaled.
Really no way to guess from a picture.
But... don't like the looks of that bent bumper (the actual bumper not the cover everybody calls the bumper). There could have been some serious side stress put on the "frame".

Pretty impressive energy absorption. The back window didn't even break.

From taking a second look at the first picture, it looks to me like your right-rear wheel is not positioned straight. Then again, it could be that cameras have poor depth perception.

not necessarily a good thing. he will have to pay license fees with taxes again. Will have to pay over 30k for a brand new one. Basically will be in the hole thousands of dollars than he was before he got hit. Id prefer to keep my 2013 than forced to get a 2016

That picture makes me wanna cry. I think it needs a "Warning: Graphic Material" subtitle.

When the insurance company tried to total my Jeep, an allowance was included for taxes and registration.

I'm gonna guess totaled. If it were mine, that's the outcome I'd be hoping for.

jawn 08-17-2015 12:40 AM

I've seen significantly more damage not get totaled, but that largely depends on the condition of your frame.
