One of the LEDs in my Tom's tail lights went out. :( I was hoping to avoid it as Brandon had the same issue, but it seems it's my turn. Anyone know of anyone that's fixed an LED in the Tom's before?

I don't remember if you guys mentioned taking apart the unit, or if it's welded/sealed.

Brandon said it was sealed.

While I'm 100% confident in fixing the guts, not so much with the best way to get it apart.

I guess that will be my task then to figure out how to unseal it without making it unusable.

If you don't find a better solution, JB Weld will be our friend. There's also an amazing flexible epoxy we might consider.

if i went aftermarket, i'd go TOM's. But! seems like all aftermarket lights have dead led issues.

MalcolmHimself 08-05-2015 02:48 PM

If they're fused like OEM tails you can use a soldering iron to slowly cut your way through, it's what the people who paint the inside of their tails do. Then close it up with aquarium sealant after.

RobertPaulson 08-05-2015 03:05 PM

well that sucks, how long have you had the toms? mine are still good but have the one reflector on the drivers side that isn't set correctly anymore

plynnjr92 08-05-2015 03:22 PM

Man this ain't good, I just got my Tom's tails a couple weeks ago

Take it to a shop who does retrofits they'd be happy to do it for you and I'm sure you'd get some kind of warranty.

I would much prefer to have a dead LED then the dead spider bro that is in my Tom's right now. Not even sure how it got into there.

Let me know if you take it a part, curious to see what the procedures would be.

Man you have the supra spider! How could you want a dead LED over that?
For anyone who doesn't know

I bought them from @booyaka back in November of last year. @booyaka do you remember where you purchased them and do you still have your order number so I can see if I can get them warrantied?

if you bought them in November how long did he have them for? the warranty is only 1 year long. Contact Buddy Club (the only importer) if you have the serial number etc and they can possibly help you out. I contacted every dealer about the issue and 90% of them basically said you are SOL if they are even close to a year old cause TOM's/Buddy Club won't even take them back to look at them at that point (Somebody knew they were going to fail)
