After the 4th chip, I haven't seen one since (about 3 weeks ago, interestingly).

That being said, my car isn't a show car so I count the chips as battle scars lol

I have found that I had a pile of chips for the first few months but haven't had a new one since spring. Since my driving habits and routes have not changed I am a bit baffled as to what is different.

It is a well known fact that Nissan paint is much better than Scion paint. You could look it up.

Im going to guess less debris and no salt on the road form snow. I know in the summer months their tends to be less crap and debris on the road after all the potholes are filled and you're more than likely to have a street sweeper clean the roadway during the summer where as winter that never happens. So cleaner roadway less crap being thrown at you.

Comparing any paint from before 2013 is a waste of time and energy.
As I have said before in other threads there was a world wide (yes even in China) requirement to reduce the amount of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) in all paint. This meant that all manufactures had to change their materials. Unfortunately paint tech has not kept pace with the reduction requirements and it has resulted in poorer quality paint across the board.
Sooooo, all the "my old XXXX had better paint" are right, did they. We are stuck with what we have now and it is only going to get worse as the world governments ban yet even more compounds that were used in the past so we might as well get used to it.

Nope although that would make sense.
Most of my travels are on a highway and they don't see sweepers. With the vast majority of my chips I know exactly how and when I was hit and most of them came from stuff being kicked up by or falling off trucks. A 1/4 inch pebble thrown up by a truck can hit like a bullet.
I was actually very impressed with the lack of chips caused by following or passing salt trucks last winter. I guess it is softer and both it and I were moving slower when it hit.

I'm collecting chips and dings until my wife says it's time to repaint & PDR all in one fell swoop. I care about its appearance but I'm not losing sleep over it.

I collected quite a bit of chips driving from Toronto to Calgary, Northern Ontario was a hell of a drive, cliffslide "rails" which looked to be made of toothpicks and floss.

Hmm Idk most highways are sweep from time to time by the States maintenance crew or else the pile of crap in the shoulder lanes would make it impossible to use them. Maybe its different in Canada :iono: or area's that dont see as much traffic volume

What are these "shoulder lanes" you speak of? All the crap just eventually ends up in the ditch.

Depends on where in the US you are. I had to spend a few horrible weeks in Dallas recently and noticed one long overpass where there actually were piles of road debris along the concrete rail so that it would have been impossible to pull over without doing damage to your car. I started looking and realized that the rest of the roads in Dallas have that debris also, but it gets blown off the shoulder into the grass. I guess they figure it'll all get mulched when they mow.

Try driving through Detroit! I could probably build a car with what is on the sides of the Interstates in some spots.

Why? Unless they neuter the US models the top speed is 140-something. I have seen photos of 147mph on the dash.

Hey, are you declaring all those parts? Sounds like a shady deal to me.
