Front brakes really HOT after install HAWK HP+ pads
 
Hi all. I need some idea or help or advise on this issue.

I have installed the HAWK HP+ (HB711N.661) pads yesterday and now the front brakes are very HOT after driving for 10 to 15 minutes. I'm not sure if it's related to the pads or the calipers. I have no issue at all with the OEM pads before.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Is a pad dragging? It may be that the piston is not properly retracting, thereby creating more pad to rotor friction that before, even though you're not applying pressure on the brake pedal.
Did you have any trouble getting the caliper to fit over the rotor with the new pads installed, or where the pistons fully retracted when you installed the caliper?

I did have trouble put the FRONT RIGHT caliper back on the rotor after install the pads. It may be why the FRONT RIGHT is super HOT after the pads installed.

No issue on the FRONT LEFT.

Right caliper could be seized. Take it off again, get a pair of channel locks with the old crappy lad and depress the piston back into the caliper. It shouldn't be hard. If it is, or doesn't move, you may need a new caliper or you some how got the pad wedged awkwardly. If it doesn't work, take a video/photos and post them up for us to help you.

FYI, it's pretty easy to rebuild calipers. It might cost $50 in seals and an hour or two of your time.

I had the same issue the first time I did my pads. I ended up determining that I had pinched a tubular seal that is present on one of the two shafts that the calliper floats on. You'll need to remove the calliper from the knuckle and then remove the 2 14mm bolts that hold the floating portion of the calliper onto the part with the pistons. Once you slide the floating part off, you'll see the tubular seal I'm talking about.

Issue fixed after I redo it.
