Any plans for the Rear fog light?

I saw a thread on the rear fog light but no one addressed any plans to make it a functioning fog/brake light.

I think it would be cool to make it a flashing brake light for track use like the F1 cars have. Would need to be switched because I could see it being a problem for street use.

Anyone?

To answer your first question: YES

I'll post my results the first week of July. All your dreams will come true!

I'm tempted to make it a third reverse light, since the wiring is there already, but that might require some work depending on how it looks with the red in there.

I prolly' will be working on it this weekend too!

HA, the race is on! My parts aren't in for it yet, so you might win!

For those who wire up the rear fog, post some pics to the rear fog thread I made: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...light=rear+fog

And PLEASE don't be lazy and wire this up as a fourth brake light. That's not what the light is meant for.

I wonder how this would work out... will this work just like a regular light that you turn on when in Fog? Is its purpose served because it is so low to the ground making it more visible? Or do we need a brighter light? Also, how would be turn it on - my limited BRZ does not have front fog lights - so wondering how I would set it up.

Yes, the whole purpose of the rear fog light is to make it easier for cars behind you to judge their distance from you in bad weather. It's as simple as that. If you add in the correct sized bulb and wire it up, it should have the same intensity as your brake lights. You can either run it to your front fog light switch (if you have one) or run it to an independent switch in the cabin. It looks like there are plenty of switch blanks in the interior of this car so finding a place for a switch should be a non-issue.

Bingo! But now the question is, what size bulb is suppose to go in there? My guess is a 921 bulb. A 7440 seems a bit large for that small light.

It might be a 7440. What size are your reverse lights? It will be either that or very similar.

Reverse lights are 921s. I'd personally like to do the rain light with a 7440 for it's 25W output instead of the 921 with it's 17.5W output. But it's a lot easier to find small 194 sockets which the 921s will fit into than the larger ones for the 7440.

I'll have to dig further.

This is clearly going to be a million thread topic:
Try searching, there are already multiple people working on getting these working.
It's not a 3rd brake light nor should it be hooked up as one, you already have this in your rear window. It should be activated as a rear fog and thats it.

From a 30 second search, there are more but these are the 3 more current and relevant:
