My Reason for Not Getting a Z-Car
Not Pictured: 2 other 370z and a 350z in a parking lot of less than 150 where I work...
http://jservedio.com/pictures/car/zland.jpg I know not buying a car because "everyone else has it" is kind of stupid, but... when there are literally FIVE other Z-cars in my parking lot... it's just kind of ridiculous. There are more Z-cars than Priuises (Prii?) in my work parking lot. I love the Z and think it is an excellent car and was stuck between the two after hundreds of miles in each...but, that really helped tip me over the edge. Under the snow in the winter, I would have end up clearing off the wrong Z (or more than 1 wrong Z...). |
Where I live I see a 370 maybe once every few days. I'll see about 6 FRZ's every day. Didn't get a 370 because it's even less practical than my BRZ and really not a fan of the seating position in it.
|
I considered getting a 370z, but the high price tag and the looks are what got me into a frs. I used to own a 94 z32 300zx twin turbo that I loved it but I do not like the styling of the newer Z's. I know they perform marvelously but I just couldn't get over how ugly they looked through my eyes.

The z cars is actually alot of performance for the dollar.
You can't fault people getting the most out their dollar. But I think you made the right choice. :D |
The only 370's I really like right now are the Nismos. But, unfortunately, they're also out of my price range. Considering the price point, the 86 is really hard to beat IMO. It handles great and it's super fun to drive. I'm actually glad when I see more 86 owners out on the road. The more the merrier I say.
|
That's kind of weird considering 86's are a lot more affordable. I see some older 350's more often then I see a 370, but 86's are absolutely everywhere now in Southern California. Not a big deal though about 85% of them I see are completely stock.
|
Difference for me is that 86's are actually fun to drive. Borrowed a buddy's 370 and it felt like driving in a bathtub filled with marbles (albeit a very fast one). And yes, there are a lot of 86's in SoCal, but there are scads more Z's.

But, the FR-S is so much more fun to drive on the twisties than the Z, I have a seat for my dog, can pick up drunk friends in a pinch (and at the same time, make fun of them for being drunk and rolling around my back "shelf"), and don't have to see my car 5 times in my parking lot. Plus, keeping an extra $200 a month along with an extra $10 grand in the bank makes me pretty happy though. |

The government could mandate that everyone has to have a BRZ and I wouldn't give a sh!t because I love driving my car. |
For me there were >500 reasons to not buy a 370Z.
