Sydney - Recommended Salesperson
Hi everybody!
We had a similar thread on the VW forums when the Golf Gti came out. Thought it would be nice for people in Sydney to share the good or the bad experiences etc.. Went to most of the metropolitan Toyota dealers in Sydney to compare price on the 86 gts manual. As usual, some dealers were not open to negotiation stating the popularity of the car as a reason for the stiff pricing. Then there were those who wanted a deposit before test drive. And finally, there were just those extremely pushy salesmen who kept pressuring you to sign on the dotted line. Anyway, long story short, I finally placed my order with Dragan Sulic over at Truscotts Toyota in Five dock. He just seemed to tick all the boxes. Selling a product that already sells itself is easy. To be more enthusiastic about your product than a customer is uncommon. He took the time to simply chat. Not about whether I wanted to put a deposit or not but to just discuss car-stuff.. Potential plans I would have for the car and his awesome recollections of the 86 training day etc.. Prior to the launch he emailed a steady supply of photos and even injected his own opinions on how he thought the car was awesome (we all knew that though haha). There was no pressure when I compared drive away prices with other dealers. I was able to negotiate for a price I wanted and best of all I did not have to fight tooth and nail over it. After sales treatment was also very good. Dragan contacted me to apologise firstly for not having a demo car sooner (most dealers had one as of today) but he did have a customer car that I could have a look at. I came in at 5.30pm and was obliging enough to take the time to show me the car after working hours. In terms of pricing, so far only peter warren could match but they were not my first point of call due to distance from home. We tell 20 people when we experience bad service but only tell 5 when we get good service. To anyone out there who has yet to place an order.. U wont go wrong with dragan =D When asked just say the forum recommended him. The bonus for referring seems to work against the idea of recommending someone in the first place (bias??) hey buddy i was at 5 dock today at 1-2pm....if i was there an hour earlier i would have got the GT manual drive away this saturday....and the colour i wanted lol...now i have to wait for a GT manual expected arrival august-september period as stipulated in contract...
i dealt directly with the manager lawrence, he is awesome as well....did explain stuff but not to a significant degree that i wanted...nevertheless, he was helpful :)...i placed the deposit and done... i didn't like the senior sales at glebe today...was not helpful....i only requested to look at it...told me to wait for few minutes, after 10-20 mins, he forgot about me :(...lucky a kind trainee assisted me to take a look at the customers car without being able to touch the inside...nevertheless I'm satisfied... side note...waterloo's toyota required me to put down 1000 dollar deposit before even getting near to the car to have a look =/....i guess u have to shop for dealers these days lol? |

Andrew Cook (so many Andrews...) at Sydney City Toyota (Waterloo) is a very good dealer. Never once did I feel any pressure to make a deposit or a purchase. He knows the product very well and is just generally a pretty easy going guy.
He keeps his promise of informing me of any new info as soon as he knows about it. He is also just as excited about the 86 as any of us are, which is definitely a good thing. If you live in the Waterloo area, I'd recommend him. Before him, I tried to go to my local Chatswood dealer. The guy there (I don't remember the name) didn't know anything about the 86 besides its existence. This might have been because I went there well before the launch date, but still, I expected more. He seemed like your stereotypical salesman, a little pushy but not too much. What annoyed me the most was that the manager came over in the middle of our talk and insisted that I would be hard pressed to find a better car for even $50,000 (despite the lack of knowledge). I kindly disagreed with him. All in all, nothing too bad, but also nothing really made me want to stick around. |
