Swift Spec R lowering springs
 

For some reason I have checked online for a while for someone to post something up on the Spec R but I could hardly find anything on them so here so hopefully mine is the first review

Basically like anyone else I wanted to lower my car. I was going to go for coilovers, but seeing as though the car is new, I would rather beat up the factory shocks, and go coilover suspension in the future, maybe at the 80-100k mark.
I have been lurking a while on what options I could go with, and was desperately waiting on someone to review the Swift Spec R springs, but of course that never came up, so I pulled the trigger on them anyways.

It seems as though a good amount of people have been running Swift's Sport springs but I figured why not go a little edgy, and I'm glad I did.
The Spec R springs part number is 4T909R which unlike the Sports Springs fits both BRZ and the FRS.

The drop-
This in my opinion came out perfect. The car is perfectly level front and rear. Its a noticeable difference even though it is only an inch all the way around. There is a good amount of ground clearance so that you don't have to go over speedbumps at an angle, but low enough that the car looks nice and clean.

The Commute-
I drive about 50 miles a day, mostly highway driving on free flowing traffic. There are times when I totally forget about the fact that I even have springs in here. The drive is real smooth. It's a very good daily driver, and its as comfortable as a stock car. The stiffness in springs are definitely felt going over speed bumps.

The Performance-
I am not a track junkie in any way. I have done a few autocross events with an old miata I had, but that's about it. I do however, feel like I have a good idea of how a car should feel when driven aggressively. I have my own little track layout in my neighborhood, which has a combination of high (60-80MPH) and low speed (30-50) corners. The overall increase performance is increased all the way around, but if I had to choose a few standouts it would be that at low speed corners the nose dive is significantly reduced. At high speed corners is where the springs really shines for me. The car is very steady and level through the corner, and it brings confidence. I feel the suspension is outdoing the stock tires I'm on right now, but wheels and tires are next on my to-do list. I will keep it updated.

Not a bad looking drop. Sometimes wish I went with springs over coils, but I wanted more low.

Yeah I love the fact that its a set it and forget it setup. I figured Swift has always have people always raving, and they seem to get into the nitty gritty when designing their springs. I feel good with that piece of mind.

But again I do plan on moving up to coils in the future for the adjustability.

These have always been a great budget choice for performance!

How's the ride quality below, say, 30MPH on slightly bumpy roads or undulating surfaces?

You're gonna feel every single one of those bumps. I been running the springs for almost a year now, you get used to it. I forgot what stock suspension feels like. But yea, these are definitely stiffer springs.

i drove around with swift sport frs + stock struts for a little over a year... i never got used to it, it was too stiff/harsh for me

:word: Never heard of a neighborhood with speed limit above 30..........

I have been running on this setup for about a month now. To me, it doesn't feel uncomfortable in any way, even on uneven road surfaces.
But yes the rates are definitely stiffer.

LOL sorry that was a typo, I meant "around my neighborhood," but I guess no matter how you look at it, it's still a little bit of speeding.
