Brown spots / Tree sap ?
 

Wondering what the best way to clean off these brown spots would be.

They won't come off by hand, unless finger nail is used pretty much. Seems it's kind of baked on there with the heat/sun.

Thinking I may need to buy a buffer since the tree in my driveway isn't going anywhere :thumbdown:

You try a claybar? Upload some pics

I briefly googled some solutions before heading over here to the forum, but someone was suggesting claybar. They were saying that was for metal in the paint rusting though.

I'm leaning towards buying a buffer:
1. I'll remove the brown marks whenever the come.
2. Make my pearly white Scion look beautiful whenever I want.

Just found a video on youtube showing Turtle-Wax: Hard Shell removing leave stains with hand washing. Maybe that could be a cheaper solution.

Yea that would be my guess. It is known as fallout/rail dust and its little metal bits that land in the paint and those start to rust. White cars always show fallout the worst. Best to use a clay bar with some spray wax just be sure to use lots to keep it lubricated. Tree sap you would beable to "chip" off with your finger although I don't recommend doing that.

Claybars are cheap try one first.

Ridiculous, they are on popping up everywhere. Any idea how long a claybar will keep fend these spots off?

clay bar WONT keep these off

clay bar will just help remove them

look into a good quailty wax or sealent, THOSE should help keep these spots off

Yup, but I do find they take some time to reappear, but like he said use a good wax to help prevent that. I use Autoglym HD wax. I would avoid lower quality liquid waxes, just my 2 cents.

Yea, I realize it won't protect it from returning. Ugh, I'm not looking forward to hand waxing my car.

Why not?? Thats part of the joy of owning a sports car. It is a unwritten rule that you must try to keep your car as clean and nice as possible for other peoples viewing pleasure hahaha!!

This car isnt bad takes like an hour for somone with experience like myself to wax it. Your probably going to spend about an hour clay baring it too yours it bad. Sounds like a good Saturday to me. Plus when your all done and your car is all shiny you will be proud of yourself. Have fun!!

You can also split the wax job into half doing front end/roof one day and the rest another day. After a wash of course.

They are like concentrated sticky dirt circles, huh? Have them on top of car near windshield mostly or on rear. I use lots of suds (Meguiars) to loosen it up. It needs a sh!t ton of elbow grease after that. Be gentle though if you care about your paint. I also spray around with Goo Gone Automotive Spray Gel (watered down...lol i know you can'[t really but i still mix with soap a bit) dirt and tar removal spray too but i forgot brand.

It helps a ton if they super sticky!!! I usually dont get more than 6 of them at a time. Good luck and report back.

BTW! To prevent like 80%+ of them, get a car cover. Downside to car cover is that if it is loose and wind moves it around, your bound to get swirls. IDGAS about swirls anymore, though.

Pressure wash tree, then do it again like 20min after. My dad used to do this when we lived in a foresty area. Helps clean tree a bit from debris that may fall onto your roof and in our case help reduce some fungus.
