What is this noise? New coilovers and LCAs, video inside
 

So a few days ago, I installed the following:
- D2 Coilovers
- ISC Rear LCAs
- Japspeed rear toe arms

Now after just a few miles, this noise appeared, coming from the rear right/passenger side rear. It's only really audible when going very slowly, and doesn't seem to me to be dependent on bumps in the road. When going normal road speed, say 40+ mph, I can't hear it.

So I took out the trunk liner etc and had my brother film the sound while rolling with the car turned off, downhill.

Can't really figure out exactly where it's coming from, if it's the LCA, coilover or even the anti-roll bar? Since it doesnt really depend on bumps from what I gather. Or that it more or less disappears in higher speeds..

have you checked all the bolts and nuts to see if they're all torqued down properly?

Yeah that was the last thing we did before we put the car down after mounting everything. Not that another go at it is a bad idea though!

when you torque all the bolts/nuts, do it with the suspension loaded. you can get another jack and put it under the coilover/lca to raise it up while the car is on jackstands.

The noise is the same noise I had for the same LCA. The issue is that there is not enough lube in the pillowball joint. Go to your nearest auto shop and buy some lube. Grease up inbetween the joint and that rubber boot a lot. That should fix the noise.

That might be something, I greased them both but there's a big chance I didn't grease one of them enough. Thanks for the info, hope this is it actually!

I hope so too! I used both the supplied tubes of lube, one on each of them and it was still not enough for each side. I think they need to supply minimum of 4 lube tubes to be safe.

Well, I found the issue, and while grease fixed it for now, it wasn't really the main problem.

I removed the inner bolt that goes through the balljoint/whatever you call it and removed the rubber boot and greased both of them, a lot. But on the first one I removed the boot on, I saw that it had this plastic bushing-thing inside it so that the ball itself didn't do metal on metal contact in its socket. The other one didn't have this, which this photo shows.

I understand what you meant. Try giving ISC a call and see what they say.

I've sent them an email over two days ago, but no reply yet..

Their email support is pretty slow. You're better off giving them a call.

I would if I was in the US, but I'm on the other side of this planet :)

@ISC Suspension Hopefully this will get their notice and you can try facebooking them and see if they respond faster.
