Sirus-XM.

Dealer says the kit for Sirius XM satellite is coming out at no additional charge. I've had the FR-S for 3 weeks still nothing from the dealer. Any suggestions? Has anyone had success getting Sirius installed by Scion?

Interested in this too. Let me (us) know if you get a kit. And, if it has a part number. I need to order one for myself. I work at a Scion dealer and I have no information about a kit. Kits for other Toyota's here are about $5-600. I can't imagin Scion giving them away for free.

I can't wait too have Sirius in the car. I am bored not having 40s on 4, Sinatra and Symphony Hall.

The default factory headunit I got in my FR-S has something about XM radio in the manual, but I think it requires extra hardware installed as my base head unit will not switch over into satellite radio mode (only AM)

Correct. The base unit is satellite radio compatible, meaning it can control and display information from a sat tuner, which the base radio, nor bespoke has incorporated. You have to connect an external tuner to the head unit for it to work. This is the kit talked about in the previous posts.

Good luck with Sirius!

I have had Sirius off and on since '02 and have noticed a huge increase in music being done by someone/groups other than the original artists between then until now; particularly with the 50's on 5.

I am sure Sirius does it to save $ by not having to pay royalties for playing originals.

Even worse than this, again on Channel 5, is the practice of creating songs that have the 50's sound (beat, etc.) but are really not from that era.

These songs may have been created last week by some no-name group, but are played as 50's music.

Again Sirius trying to save $.

That's crazy.

I had a Sirius radio for awhile and I actually preferred just getting whatever local stations instead. On Sirius it was all programming and none of the filler like traffic/news/etc which is one of the main reasons I listen to the radio.

Not sure why anyone would bother with satellite radio now esp with USB (MP3) playback and iPod/iPhone integration in most of the newer units.

Definitely not free, but even Scion says you can't add XM to the FR-s. Pfffft... whatever. Here is how I added it to my wife's FR-s:
