Black Box G1W 1080p Dashcam On Sale Now, $42

Adequate for most users and can be hard wired always on. Dashcamtalk rates it the best budget dashcam and Amazon reviews are acceptable for the price plus seller is legit:

Mine's on the way shipped Prime, will be here Saturday. I ordered after a friend who has run two of them for over a year in different cars with no issues recommended them.

I was using an SJCam 4000 until it started blowing fuses.

If you get any dashcam, download and install the free ProDAD ProDRENALINE software to stabilize, color correct and remove distortion from most action cameras. Normally $49, follow these instructions, they work and the software is very useful:

Does this dash cam stay on when the car is off? Or does it have to be hard wired to be on all the time? My car was vandalized today so I'm researching dash cameras. I'm thinking of getting the one that uses capacitor.

Sorry about the vandalism, so aggravating.

The G1W cam would need to be hardwired for always on use. Those kits are reviewed on the dashcamtalk.com site I linked above. They like the Lukas LK-290 best.

Their capacitor models are made to withstand heat better than the battery models. From what I've read, the tradeoff is that they take longer to boot as the capacitor charges but if it's hardwired that wouldn't matter.

holy cow the image stabilization really works, color me surprised lol. I'll have to look up the viewing angles for my blackvue 500GW later and set it in the software as a camera profile for the fisheye correction to work right. Nice find on the software!
