Limited BRZ fog lights

I was just checking out my BRZ from ground level looking at the front bumper/radiator/headlamps, etc. Just realized that the fog lights don't have halogen bulbs in them. They look like small incandescant bulbs.

Little disapointed at that.

You mean you think they have halogens, and not HID's? Halogens are a type of incandescent.

To my knowledge no manufacturer makes stock HID fogs. Too bright in conjunction with HID headlights to pass DOT. In fact, cars today automatically turn the fog lights off when the high beams are switched on.

They are a newer type of bulb PSX24W. I've considered swapping them for LEDs or HIDs just to get the color to match.. IMO the front of the car looks better at night with them on (I light having a light source under the headlights as well) but they are somewhat ugly since the color temp is so different.

Also thought about swapping the positive wires between them and the DRLs.

I haven't bothered to do either or even check voltages, etc to make sure it's safe.. so don't do it.

Thanks, did a little surfing and I see that it has been around for a couple of years. This is my first time seeing this new bulb.

Looks like a lot of LED replacements available. I'll let someone else be the first to see if they are worth it. Would like to get the color temp close to the HID headlamps.

I installed SuperWhite LEDs (mega bright) in the fog light housings. Pix to post this weekend.

Can you post pics? Which bulbs did you end up replacing it with?

Amazon superwhite px24w

Our customer has installed an HID kit in his BRZ foglights.

Much improved lighting and was a close match to his factory 4300k HIDs.

I'd love to be able to run the fogs with the running/parking lights...first click after the auto position on the light switch.

As it is now they only work with the main headlights.

I know...its only to look cool while cruising!

Please post a DYI on the drl positive wire swap. Can these housings handle the HID heat output. What size are these bulbs in a HID kit 5202? H16?

I've read in another forum that you can replace the PSX24W with H16 9009 5202. If this is true would that mean these bulbs would fit?

Please post if you try this. I think the Nokya's would look great if they work.

I just installed some ebay led replacements. They were ten bucks shipped! Couldn't be happier.
