I wouldn't be too worried about RSX-S and 2.0L Genesis in STX.

Glad RSX-S is out of STF, total over dog car.

Who's the guy that wrote in to add RE71R's to tire exclusion list....I want to buy this man a beer.

what's wrong with the bridgestone RE71R ;) ? too fast ?

e1_griego 07-21-2015 07:07 PM

Steering wheel rule in ST seems like a phenomenal idea. Makes it so tall people can drive small cars without bumping to SP.

Just brainless tires. Our cars were much more fun/challenging/rewarding to drive on last years tires. I won't get into this thread crapping rant though.

How is one going to get an aftermarket wheel to weigh more than a stock unit with airbag?

e1_griego 07-21-2015 07:17 PM

Yeah, that part is goofy, but would have loved to be able to run my miatas in ST classes instead of CSP just because of a wheel.

RedBRZ80 07-22-2015 07:54 PM

So a tire is fast and someone got Butt Hurt. .. Doesn't the evolution of tire tech happen every years or so.. Why is this different.?

The Rival-S is just as fast. And I'm sure HanKook will step up next year with another version.
(I'm biased tho, I've been on RE71s sence Dixie. And love the grip and setup

renfield90 07-22-2015 08:44 PM

Whole lotta silliness in that fastrack.

It's stating that everything must weigh the same without the airbag. Remove the weight of the airbag and then measure and it must be equal.

If Hankook and other manufacturers jump in on the tire race, then it's fine, however, I sure hope current sets of RE71R actually includes the TW # on the sidewall!

That's not how it reads to me. No reduction in vehicle weight.

"but the substitute components, including adapters, hubs, quick releases, etc., may not result in
a reduction in total vehicle weight.."

It specifically says the substitute components. A non-existent airbag is not a substitute component therefore it's stating that the parts that do replace the steering wheel cannot be lighter than their counterparts.

I've been having so much fun on FB with this, might as well post it here too.
