Question about BRZ-Tint

I bought a BRZ Limited from Maine. I live in Florida, so anyways there is a slight tint on the side and back windows. I called the dealer and asked if the glass was just naturally colored or if it was tinted. He said ya it has a slight tint due to the regulations up in Maine it couldn't be darker or something to that effect. Does anyone know if that is just standard to have a slight tint or are they the same color as the windshield out of the factory?

The tint guy wants more money to remove the existing tint. :(

Slight tint in the glass itself. The dealer may have tinted it more but if it's tinted with film it's pretty obvious, just look for the edge of the tint on the windows with the door open.

Congrats on the new BRZ. What dealer did you buy from in maine?

If the tint guy is charging you to remove some tint, the dealer probably applied some tint prior to your purchase.

My BRZ does not have any tint.

You can always watch the tint guy remove the tint, if you feel the glass is "naturally colored" and don't think there is anything on your windows.

I bought my BRZ from Pape Subaru from Vinnie the salesman. They are in Portland Maine. Cost 600 to ship to me in Florida. Was a smooth transaction.

I looked at the glass and I didn't see any film, it looks like the glass itself is treated..

I couldn't take a picture of the glass showing no film just wouldn't focus on my iphone.

But here is a pic inside the car looking out the windshield and one from the driver side window if you notice its slightly darker on the driver window

I plan to take the car to get tinted this weekend. So will have to see if there was any tint.. again it looks like there is no film on the glass. There is no edge .

Like I said the edge of the film is obvious, if it's not there, then there is no tint film installed. I can't remember how tinted the stock glass was at this point enough to comment on the pics though.

Mine looks the same Fugazi, but it's not film as far as I can tell. It's good that you noticed, however, as the slight tint to the windows could put you over the line for inspection failure (if you're going to the legal limit, and if you have inspections in FL).

This, I've noticed this too in my BRZ while I had my sun glasses on. Like you said, I didn't see any tint and I think the side windows are treated/polarized, which is pretty nice.

To the OP, I'm no expert, but I don't think your tint guy could remove this.

That's my point basically.. the glass is tinted and there is no "removal" for that.. it's not a film, the glass itself is tinted.

The OP is saying that the tint shop is claiming the window has film on it, which means either it does and it's slight, or the tint shop was too lazy to actually look for the edge of the film.
