First body scrach... by my dealer! (need you help there!)

Damn I'm sooo mad.

To make a long story short, my windshield was defective and needed to be replace (it always appear to be dirt/greasy but it was not... on the exterior layer)

So the dealer replaced it and the guy have made a really shitty job. The right A pillar is scrached about 6 inch long, the windshield is so badly installed that I can't see the VIN... Check out the pictures in this photobucket gallery:

Unfortunately for me, the service dep. boss is gone for 2 weeks and look like this shop can't work without it... so they can't do any work on the car... :mad0260:

But now that I've lost total confiance on the service dep. I want some referance picture YOUR windshield for comparation. Idealy the same way I've took my pictures and the same or better quality. Will be greatly apreciated. That way if they said "Well they suposed to be this way" I can prove that not suposed to be sooo gapped everywhere.

Thanks for your time guys... and I'll update you on the process.

Friday I'll made a evaluation of the job by a shop that I've already done a cupple of job and they doin' it right.

Everyone is so eager to get their cars first, cant get it ?

But a little thing that i have always done before i buy a car it to visually inspect it totally before the car is registered. Once approved i then allow them to register it because at that point it is YOURS.

I would see the principle of the dealership and voice your concern. I did this once on a Celica and they sold it to another person who wasnt as fussy as me but i waited 2 months for a replacement.

Hey, the problem was only visible when put in hard sun.

Knew it! I know you couldn't be around but I just would not have replaced it. Not sure why its so hard to get right but its like a lost art or something, it seems to always end up butchered.

Make sure they take care of you, and if you have not already make sure scion corporate knows all about this.

It's a lost art because most auto glass places hire anyone and train them how to do window replacements, then pay them peanuts.

Yeah... I want 100% of my car too. This friday I'll do an evaluation of the damage they done by a local shop that I trust (they have done 3 body job on my ex-car and everything was perfect) and I'll put this in the face of the dealership. Pay this shit.

I don't want to leave my car again to these guys.

trueno86power 06-22-2012 12:54 PM

So I'm just out of the evaluation, 600$ not that bad. I've show them up at the dealership and they admit that their is a problem with the installation.

But because the damn service manager is in vacation they can't accept to let me repair it at my local body shop...

For the simple reason: He must see it because his guy have made a mistake so he don't want to happen again. I understand his point, but still piss me off.

Well the 3 of July I'll go again at the dealership to show the guy the problem....

Looks like hell. Good luck dealing with that guy and his lousy installers.

I feel your pain. My dealership created bad paint swirl on my asphalt FR-S when they 'detailed' it. It looks bad in the sun, the swirl really stands out on the doors. They were supposed to polish the car (it had minor scratches) and it looks like they just washed it with a dirty brush. I'm quite disappointed because I asked if they were good and was assured they were. And they were not good IMHO

Some news on that sh*t! My salesman have worked hard so my car will be repaired at a local bodyshop that I know ( I've bring my ex-Corolla 3 time there for minor repair and everything was perfect ! ).

But sadly, it will be repaired only the august 6 :(. At least it will be properly done.
