frs to brz

Just an update. Bought a 2013 MT brz limited dark metallic grey with 10k miles on it. Paid 21k total with taxes with 19,500 down. Borrowed 1.5k @3.2 %. Had to talk the salesman down from 22,995 down all the way to the upper 19k.

I am getting back what I paid in taxes which was around 1.4k so I reslly don't owe anything at all.

First impression . Brz feels alot more tighter than my frs. I bought both cars around similar miles, both had 1 owners and both were in perfect condition. The upgraded features are worth the extra money. The heated seats will do great in ohio weather. Autoclimate work miracles with a remote start. Headlight output is a ton better. Best of all NO CRICKETS yet. My frs had crickets the next day after being bought from the dealers.

There are a few cons: terrible headunit, terrible boomrang light output. (I can use @Acree diy but I'm worry about pulling it apart than wiring jt up) , sorta ugly spoiler, and dgm is not the best color but there was only 2 color choice here unless I travel 100+ miles. Only dgm and wrb were available. I might wrap it during next summer, either a outrageous color or some nice matte white. (Any suggestions?)

I will have a grand or 2 left over after the insurance claim. Getting some mods!

Current mods:
White side markers.
6k bulb.
Debadge.
K&n intake
(From my poor old frs)

Future mods:
Decent price exhaust (any suggestions? Would love an exhaust that doesn't have a loud drone when driving on the highway.)
Motul 300 tranny oil change. (Next month)
Headers (next summer)
Flex fuel kit ( paid $150 from friends frs)
Oft (getting a free one!!!!)
Feed myself decent quality food. (Sushi.... yum)
Decent quality noodles and pudding.
Any other mod suggestions for next summer?
Next year is my co-op year so yayy...

Cool man. Since you're a starving student, supposedly, maybe hold off on the mods and just pay the car off right away?

Edit: also lol at not being willing to make a couple hour trip for a colour that you wanted. If I was paying 20k for a car, I wouldn't settle on a colour I didn't want.

More like euthanized since the damage costs were just barely at the write-off threshold for most places.

Yea, that's why I'm not really going to do any expensive mods until next summer where I'll actually have a job that pays 25-30 an hour. Plus no more car payment (yay!!). So I got that going for me. Not looking to spend thousands of dollar. Just want something that can put a smile on my face. For example better speakers, it's pretty sad to hear that the stock exhaust is 20x louder than the actual car speaker. Might invest 400 or so on some decent ones since I tend to travel a lot. Going to south Carolina by the end of this month. The car payments, insurance, school fees were the thing that made me broke. After receiving scholarships from UC, I no longer have to deal with that. I currently owe nothing on the car due to tax remenbursements and my insurance went down by almost 200 for 6 months due to this new car. I'm not sure how and why but this car seems to helped me out alot or it could be just luck.. All I have to worry about is getting straight As and increase my social skills ha. The car is only here for a hobby. Love driving and love exploring.

Sounds crazy but life can be funny.

This^ and DGM is not a bad color by any stretch of the imagination...

there was 3 wrb limited but i didn't like blue. wanted black or white lol. The nearest white was 200 something miles away while the nearest black was around 80 miles. Problem is that i didnt have a car to drive those miles. I took a bus to the nearest dealership that had this car for a reasonable price. the wrb were sitting at 30k miles + for $23k. while this car came with opti front clear wrap and new tires for 23k but i was able to talk them down to upper 19k. plus it had 16k miles which means warranty for a good year or so!

Dont get me wrong i like DGM but its hard to get good look rims color that will match the car plus it look greenish or blueish at times which can be a nono. Black rims is def a nope since the contast of the color is unbearable. Any suggestion on what color wheelies?

XXR 530's in chromium black is what I would do.

You're screwed now that you said something

The stock headunit is not that bad. Put it on the xB setting. If you are very picky about quality audio then I'd recommend your next mods be a better head unit and speakers.

Spacemane969 07-16-2015 06:11 PM

Man, I still can't figure out why 23k is the going rate around here for a baseline 2013 fr-s while you guys can find a limited subie for 19. Im jealous. Dont worry about the color just have fun, it'll grow on you
