That is exactly what I compared the looks of the FR-S to when I first saw it. Whiteout w/ black wheels would make me do a double take. lol

The Maserati isn't a FR-S statement like: I've thought about this and it makes good sense for me.
The FR-S isn't a Maserati statement like: Sukka, ya sukka, ya; mine mine mine, ya loosa.
Somehow a Toyobaru is special, and, don't ask me why, but the Maserati isn't.
IMO

Back on topic. I think the fender arches is that makes us think they look very similar.

Someone's been watching Conan...

Also, these pictures do a pretty good job of comparing the two cars. I think I saw a similar comparison a while ago but the pictures in that one didn't match this well.

That's ridiculous, the FR-S/BRZ looks much better.

ichitaka05 06-19-2012 09:38 PM

I compared both (in the looks), but I just don't see FR-S look like Maserati to me... IDK maybe my eyes need to get check.

I do like both of em for sure :)

It's only 1/6th of the Maserati.

Don't fool yourself.

solidsnake4119 06-20-2012 08:18 AM

It may look similar, but it is no Maserati.

Billy2224 06-20-2012 12:34 PM

REPLACE WITH TRD MODEL!!! honestly, you pick the done up MC model of the Gran Turismo that looks exactly like the TRD 86 but you put a standard FR-S for comparison. common, laziness?

rwd_ 06-20-2012 02:56 PM

The maserati looks much more sinister, especially in black and you hear it roar.

Looks wise, I'm sure you could fool some uninformed people it's an exotic.

I pulled up next to a dark blue Maserati coupe today.....the FR-S does look like a little Maserati....of course the snob in the Maserati would'nt even look at me....

I might have to look for the guy I know who tracks his.....it would be super cool to get some video of the FR-S passing the big Maserati on track..... :>)

I was going to put Toyota badges on my car, but I think I will do Maserati ones instead!

One rare occasion I wish I wasn't driving in my FR-S (but rather outside, able to snap a photo): On my lunch run today I caught up to a silver GranTurismo which wound up two lanes over to my right at a light. Would've been nice to get that side-by-side photo.

I was pulling out of Starbucks drive-thru yesterday with my window down; stopped to straighten my drink in my cup holder; guy asks 'what kind of car you have?'
Look over, it's a foreign couple; probably tourists (remember I'm in Las Vegas), tourists everywhere; has Italian accent for real =D
'This is beuatiful! It looks like you have a Maseratti'

/thread; when an Italian citizens' first impression of you car is that it looks like a Maseratti, it really does haha!

What probably surprised me the most from this event is that he was able to appreciate the modest power even after associating the FR-S with a GranTurismo -
'how much horsepower do you have?' - Only 200 (honest, but humble answer from me in knowing I don't have the most...) 'Only 200? that's enough, it is a small car'

Then I realized I was holding up the drive-thru exit xD
Just wanted to share my awesome account for the thread!

OP might want to schedule an opthamologist visit.
