BRZ OEM rant

New owner here, a few things I wished my 2015 Limited came with stock. I wish I didn't have to figure out how to add it to my car.
1 Rear fog light stalk and rear light
2 Exhaust tips that extend beyond the rear fascia
3 Back up camera
4 Side marker lights that act as a blinker

I believe by law OEM's cannot do this in the US.

Choco 07-13-2015 03:33 PM

At least you're able to add all those things to the car.

swarb 07-13-2015 03:34 PM

All that can be done with some wiring, time, and about $100 bucks.

1 Rear fog light stalk and rear light Rear fogs not legal for OEM in US
2 Exhaust tips that extend beyond the rear fascia OEM with extended tips would fail crash tests in US (more damage value at lower speeds)
3 Back up camera Should have got a 16 FRS (not really sure why the BRZ didn't get them though)
4 Side marker lights that act as a blinker They don't? (Really I have never looked. May also be a regulatory thing)

I don't think rear fogs are illegal in the US, just not required. A lot of Audi's and Mercedes have rear fogs built into their taillights.

May be just an individual State thing then. There was a big thread on it once and I know at least a couple of guys quoted laws forbidding rear fogs.

You should probably just trade it in for a new Mustang..

Really? Thats odd. Maybe because they come with it built into the taillights and it isn't an additional light its ok.

It is a gray(grey?) area. It can't be used as a fog light(in California), but you can use it as a courtesy light or loading light like on trucks.

1. Cheap, easy, few hours of work
2. Most nations do not allow for this, laws yo
3. 20-30 bucks, figure it out or swivel your head
4. yeah, I wish it did this too, so I found a DIY on the forum and did it for less than $2....
