BRZ trackday toy!

Here's a article of the BRZ going to a trackday. (only good for the pictures, or text if you know your Dutch ;) http://www.2thetrack.com/rijtesten/subaru-brz/)

How many BRZ owners here actually take it to the track? :burnrubber:

Google translate did a decent job translating that article into English:

If you go to the track section of the forum, there are a good number of us who bring our cars to the track. Good fun!

That's one fine track!! Have to say I'm a bit jealous of you USA guys. Some great tracks over there, we only have Zolder and Spa. On the other hand, Nurburgring is about 3 hour drive :D

Talus1 07-13-2015 06:21 PM

Dunno, I just watched a Youtube video of a BRZ at Spa. Eau Rouge and up through Raidillon wasn't quite as epic as I'd hoped, what with the lack of power, but the chicanes and the hairpin looked like lots of fun. The elevation change was much more apparent from the onboard on the BRZ than it is on TV from an F1 car.

I wish I was 3 hours from there, you have to go.

Mid Ohio is an 8 hour drive, VIR was longer.

Whats the point of putting tape over your lights? I'm going on 8 track events and never done it...sometimes in the winter you want your lights on when it gets to be dusk...

If I was racing at dusk I certainly wouldn't, but in broad daylight I'd like to protect them from thrown stones and other debris. BRZ headlight replacement units are about $750 each.

Gotcha...the only things i've ever had get kicked up are little chunks of tire rubber that put nice little black streaks down my paint.

I'd think you'd have a greater risk of getting rocks and stuff on a highway/side street than a racetrack. Tracks are usually kept pretty clean to avoid traction issues!

Except
1) you usually follow a lot closer at the track at higher speeds to try to pass
2) cars have stickier tires that throw up more debris
3) cars going off track usually pick up a lot more rocks than the average road

source: a sizeable dent is on my hood from the track by someone going off the racing line in front of me, throwing up some rocks.

Yeah, lack of power is a problem. I think Spa is not a suitable track for the BRZ, Zolder is though.

True. A car used for track-purpose always got way more stone-chipping, dents and grime then a car that didn't see a track...

I got the advice to get Auto Dip to spray on the front of the car. That vinyl layer really helps for most of the common damages.

I track mine as much as possible
