Anyone have experience with "smart mirrors"?
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Black-Box-SM1000-Rearview-Mirror/dp/B00WT5ZNJW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1436564976&sr=8-1&keywords=smart+mirror"]Amazon.com : Black Box SM1000 3G Smart Rearview Mirror Car DVR - Wifi + GPS on Android 4.4 with 5" Full HD Touch Screen - Bluetooth Hands Free Calls + Built-in FM Transmitter, Night Vision, G-Sensor (4GB Memory 16GB SD) - 2000mAH Dash Cam Video Recorder : Car Electronics[/ame]
I'm in the market for dash cams and I came across these in a search. Maybe I'm out of the loop but I wasn't even aware these existed. It seems convenient to have GPS and bluetooth calling etc. all in one unit but I'm just worried about the screen deleting so much viewing area on the mirror. Anyone here have experience with these in the past or currently? |
The problem with that is your mirror will be at an angle thus messing up whatever video you try to shoot.
Don't buy all in ones. There is more stuff to break and they cheap out on stuff. Get a good head unit and a dash cam. Blackvue seems pretty popular. |
Thanks. I really want to pull the trigger on the blackvue but I've seen lots of horror stories in the reviews about these units failing/having defects. It seems one of the most popular choices for the twins however. I love the low profile of the camera.

I would suggest ordering from a reputable dealer with a warranty. There are copies out there with low quality chips. I've read mostly good things about the higher models, and mixed reviews on the low end models. Which one were you looking at? I am looking also.
