Painting matte black wheels glossy black
3 Attachment(s)
So I currently have flat black Rota Titans I like the wheels I just wish they were glossy black since the flat black always looks dirty. My questions is since the wheels are already black do you think just painting them with a couple of coats of clearcoat will make them look glossy?
Heres what they look like currently |

It's best to do the whole process. If the wheels are in great condition, sand them down with fine grit sandpaper and wipe down with alcohol or degreaser. This will allow for the new paint to adhere better and not flake off. Take a moment to allow for it to dry completely then proceed with spraying on 3 coats of primer if you want to do the entire process. If not, skip this process and go with 3 coats of the gloss black paint.
You're technically suppose to allow for the paint the cure for a week, but I can assure you that it's fine to just hit the wheels with 2-3 coats of clear coat after the paint flashes dry. Good luck painting your wheels! It can be an extensive project, but rewarding once it's all over! I just recently finished painting my XD9's in gold as a summer DIY project. P.S.~ If you are doing the whole length, might as well do a nice bold color like gold or bronze. |
