Has anyone taken their 86 to Yosemite?

Planning to head to Yosemite this weekend. I'm not familiar with the road conditions and whether or not it is necessary to go off road to visit some popular areas. Will my BRZ be fine or should I rent a car?

If you're planning on visiting the more popular spots along the valley, you'll be fine since the whole area is pretty much developed. There are a handful of trail heads, camp sites and landmarks that have dirt roads and/or dirt (rutted) parking lots, but unless you are of the "herra frush" crowd, you will be ok.

The pics below were taken a few back when I was stock height... I'm running higher than stock now :D

Really too bad the falls are all dried up since we didn't get much snow, but on the plus side, makes for some pretty fun scrambling up them.

Yea, the place is pretty well developed and the roads were in decent condition when I was out there . I didn't have my BRZ at the time but don't remember any rough roads. I actually want to take a trip out there again some time but bummed the falls are dry.

I took my S2000 a few weeks ago, no issues. Roads are well paved, and in this time of the year you shouldn't have to worry about snow or road closures (rain OTOH...)

yea, u will be fine, i took mine to yosemite and most roads were fabulous, and I have 19" wheels I might add.
rule of thumb if you see dirt road, think about turning back and take another route.

Definitely a great drive!

A group of us did this last year. It was a blast.

We should do another Yosemite run this year!

My parents just got back from Yosemite, and there was a white 86 they sent me a picture of. I thought it was funny they kept sending me pictures of white 86's the whole trip all along the west coast.
