Solvent Popping
Has anyone experienced solvent popping on your FRS/BRZ? I am nearly certain that's what might be happening to my FRS. I had a body shop look at it today and the manager said it looks like solvent popping, which would be covered under warranty. But it doesn't make sense since I just noticed this last week? I've own the car for nearly a year now and haven't noticed it.
I don't have any pictures but I will try to get some up soon. Just curious if anyone has seen this on any other FRS/BRZ's? |

In addition to what Tcoat says, "solvent poping" usually happens at the time of spraying.
I doubt it would just "appear" on 1 year old paint. Yes, pictures would help. And yes, I've painted lots of cars ...... back in the day ....... NO, they were NOT all black ..... http://www.runemasterstudios.com/gra...es/tongue2.gif humfrz |
I had two Body shops look at it now and both said the same thing it's solvent popping but like you said why did I just notice it? I'm not sure? Maybe I over looked it before? Or maybe it's something else. I just wish I knew what's going on with my paint. I have an appt on Friday at 10am at the dealership to see what they think it is. I don't really care what it is just as long as it's gone lol.

Sorry I have not had time yet to grab a picture. I will try to have one posted by tomorrow. Just hope my camera on my phone can pick it up. I will try for sure.
When I google "Solvent Popping" it looks identical to the pictures that come up on Google. |
Meanwhile, you may consider trying a claybar to see if it will make them go away .....:iono:

Little update.
I brought the car to Scion last Friday the 3rd and the service manager said he's going to help me get this issue fixed but before we can move forward he's going to get a Toyota rep out to look at it. So, right now, I'm waiting to get a call from him to bring the car back in so the rep can look at it. At which point he said he wants to hold on to the car for a few days to see exactly what is going on and figure out what course of action needs to take place to fix the issue. When I brought the car in on Friday the detailing/body guy there tried to get the "bubbles" off but no luck. So he has no idea what it is as well but they are leaning towards solvent popping. Sorry I have no pictures. I'm not even sure if my cell phone camera would do a good job at seeing the "bubbles" since they are so small. But I will try (if I get time). I would like to post it on here to get your opinions. |
