What coilover?
Looking to hear from some of the more experienced guys in here. People who daily/track their cars. Some of the Vendors like @CSG Mike who actually have experience with different dampers and setups.
The 10 series I bought a few months ago came with Vaughtland Springs. I hate them. Looking to put coil overs in my car soon. My car is mostly daily driven, weekend drift/track warrior. I don't have a lot of money to spend (isnt that the same story with most of us? lol) and I'm looking for a good decent budget coil over that will fit the bill. The ones I've been looking at.. Fortune Auto 500's BC BR's Apexi BuddyClubs Tein Flex Z (When they are actually released) Everyone has difference opinions, I could look up a million different threads with different answers regarding each one of those coilovers so I'm hoping someone with some actual experience, even a vendor who has used these different systems can point me in the right direction. Again looking for something compliant as a daily driver but will suffice as a weekend drift/track day. |
I have the 500's with the special bearings, swift springs and rear adjuster helpers. Can't recommend them enough. Before that I had Godspeed mono max coils, and while on the cheaper end, they rode well enough and gave good bang for the buck.
I've heard great things about the powered by max coils as well. |
Ive heard the Max's are VERY VERY stiff from the S13 crowd.

edit: just saw previous post. I had their coils on my S13 and they rode like a dream compared to a lot of other coilovers I had test rides in. I have their coils on my BRZ as well, and they're pretty comfortable. Definitely not spine-jarring stiff, but stiffer than stock. |

Tein (Japanese) doesn't really belong in a comparison with Buddy Club (Taiwan) or BC Racing (Taiwan)... |
And how about a bit higher end/bigger budget ones? I have impression of 90% higher end coilovers being lower then stock even at highest settings.

Of course there are exceptions; Iphones and Galaxy phones coming out of China are excellent, as are electronics coming out of Taiwan, and 90's American cars were completely unreliable. |

Which ones are you running? The Comps or the pros? I've heard fantastic things about the PBM The replacement cartridges are only ~100 a piece. However the ride quality my car being a DD and the many comments ive heard about the PBM's being VERY stiff scare me away. |

I'd say that it's too broad generalisation about China too, as these days they can make products of whatever quality customers are willing to pay for. Of course, if most turn to China to cut costs to the stupidest extent possible, of course they'll make cheap knock off crap. It's what is ordered to be made after all. I highly doubt that quality won't be there if customers will be willing to pay for it as much as for products in 'better quality countries (tm)'.
