Shift-knob Developed! - Team Voodoo
*7/21/12 UPDATE:
The Pearl finish is Ready to Ship! http://www.thompson-automotive.com/c...63/9436945.htm Thanks for looking! Many S2000 & Miata owners among us have probably already heard of, or experienced the awesome Team Voodoo shift knobs; these knobs feel excellent in your palm, are engineered to sit as low as possible, are counter-sunk & made of solid pieces of aluminum to give your shift throws that effortless momentum; and come in beautiful finishes that complete any interior. I contacted Tom Thompson @ Thompson Engineering about having these knobs made available for our FT86Club community & he was more than happy to respond; agreeing that our platform is the next big thing in the motorsports world. A couple emails later I was sent a Voodoo to try on & for test fitment; http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...e/photo-15.jpg http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...e/photo-16.jpg http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...e/photo-17.jpg http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...e/photo-18.jpg As it turns out there is already a knob available to the STi community; with the proper threads as well as the recess required to work with our reverse lockout ring. Currently the Voodoo comes in two finishes, Piano Black: http://www.thompson-automotive.com/c...63/9125480.htm Spun Aluminum: http://www.thompson-automotive.com/c...63/8196186.htm To commemorate the release of our cars; there is a new finish being manufactured; Pearl! A gorgeous finish that you can see an example of in this pic =D http://www.thompson-automotive.com/i...ropped2tn_.jpg My personal review of the knob is; - it's the perfect size; fits in my hand comfortably with no sharp edges to distract from the driving experience. - the weight is perfect; even before you install it, you feel the solid aluminum weight of the Voodoo. - It sits about a full-inch shorter than the stock Shift knob; this allows the entire weight to be as close on top/ around the gear selection lever as possible; this counter-sunk weight allows for smooth & precise shifts with the least ammount of effort; it's truly amazing to feel the difference. - Like many on the forum, I sometimes experience hesitation & notchiness in the early gears due to the triple-cone synchros 1st-3rd; The Voodoo knob practically eliminates this issue, due to how the weight & position over the lever just throws into gears; not allowing for slop or snag while engaging a gate. The Team Voodoo knob is incredible; a piece that I think is necessary for any driver looking to have a closer connection to their car; not to mention that the finishes look amazing! Now, if you would like to be notified when the batch of Pearl finish has been manufactured & is ready to ship; please post here & I will keep a list =D I will PM you the details as soon as they are ready! Current List: - Nardi330 - Mild2Wild - avusblue - Extreme86 - Patio - danthedirt - WOJO - jinrawke |
Wow I am loving that knob! The piano black is my favorite. But I have no brz or fr-s to put it on, nor will I have one soon. Lol
Very interested. Will they post overseas??
Nice but summer time driving it will be hot

I'm using my pearl Team Voodoo knob I've had on my Tacoma forever and it works just fine with the reverse lockout mechanism... sits a little higher but that means its closer to the wheel! Much better feel than the stock knob, though surprisingly the stock knob is slightly heavier...
I wish someone would make one like my nismo gt hard rubber one.
looks good...does it have a nice weight ?
I'm curious of the weight. Is it possible for you to post the stock weight v. this one
anyway they can make a cue-ball white one?

Always loved Voodoo, but I am constantly disappointed about 2 things:
1. design never changes 2. no shift pattern |

I was thinking about asking to have a shift pattern available for this production, but since we cannot have a lock-nut under the Voodoo in our application, I would hate to see my shift pattern off by even a couple degrees based on thread variation xD |
