supercharged gt86 top speed

you guys think a typical centrifugal rotrex gt86 (280whp) could hit 160mph? maybe even the 169 which I believe is our max gearing wise. thought it was an interesting theoretical question -- what the additional 110 or so whp would do to our practical top speed to fight wind resistance.

Probably, the car can go 150 stock. It's got good aero

Without doing the math and making the conversions ...... I'd guess at about 165 mph.....

Humfrz,

I notice you eat a lot of popcorn. :)

ive taken mine north of 145.. that's with bolt ons

shifter907 06-25-2015 01:11 PM

Highest I've gone with minor bolt ons is 130 :(
Living at 4,000' above sea level sucks.

Our cars can get up to 130? Dang. haha

I've gone something like 110 mph at the track, that's it.

Interesting calculator I found. You can play with it and let us know what you find:

I've gotten my Innovate SC BRZ up to 170mp/h :) But i wouldn't recommend it, at 150 the windows start to flap and closer to 170 so does the hood...

I call BS...ugh I mean I have huge doubts. Our theoretical top speed is 168mph. That is based off of gearing, wheel diameter, and 7400 rpm ONLY. In the real world, there is friction/drag forces from the air and tires. These forces increases at an exponential rate. I'm not going to further with that. You can lots if going downhill though, but that's cheating and really can't be counted as anything.

What's your setup?

*not trying to start a war, just looking for validation*

EDIT:
Which innovative are you running? I could see that being possible with the larger unit.

The oem rom starts to slowly shut the throttle door at something like 130MPH. It has a soft limiter that reduces the air going into the engine that wont stop you from hitting a specific speed, but will reduce the power the car produces thus reducing the speed in which you could get to that speed (and obviously lowering the max potential speed due to power).

With a turbo this is not noticed as much as the wastegate will regulate boost pressure and the throttle plate will just add slight turbulence. With a supercharger you will get a very slight boost drop... Most tuners raise this value slightly to ~145-150MPH for the starting point in which the throttle starts to close. (iirc the ecutek document originally suggested raising by 20Km)

My bad! A slight fingerslip on the keyboard, 160mph it should have been. I was going a couple of mph faster but not much since i didn't dared to look away from the flapping hood.. If i remember correctly the last i saw was 264km/h which is somewhere around 164mp/h?

I'm running the 210 on E85 with the 70mm pulley.
