Nameless Axleback Drone Question

Heya,

I just recently picked up a Nameless Axleback (2.5 inch, 5 inch mufflers, and non-offset), which I believe is the non-revised one.

I absolutely love the deeper tone and volume on WOT, however I'm getting a bit of a bassy rumble in the cabin at around 2-3K RPMs in every gear and also the same exact noise when I let off of the throttle. Is this to be expected and is there anything I can do to reduce/remove it? I'm debating taking my car in to put some dynamat in the trunk, but I'm not sure if that'll even help with this.

Otherwise, is anyone in the SoCal area willing to swap their revised one with mine or trade me a quieter exhaust? It'll have to be a swap on location as I don't have the tools on hand to take it out first...

Thanks for the help guys!

sounds like you want/need a resonated perrin 2.5 inch exhaust or invidia q300

yeah there's nothing much you can do about the noise without changing the exhaust. I had a perrin 2.5 inch resonated exhaust and it was perfect IMO. wife and police approved. currently have the perrin 3 inch and while its a bit louder, still reasonable.

I have the same issue with my 5" Muffled single exit. I LOVE how it sounds, but the drone is enough to drive anyone crazy(Even with turbo+cat front pipe). It is something you will have to live with or change to a quieter exhaust

No drone on mine, also with 5" mufflers.

Bummer. I really wanted to just switch out the axleback too. Looks like I'll have to find someone to trade for a Perrin Resonated.
Thanks!

not sure how long you've had your exhaust on but when I first put my invidia n1 on, it was extremely loud for my taste (probably had to do with uel headers) but I actually threw an ad on this forum asking for someone to trade. within a week though, I actually stopped noticing the loudness and drone to a point where I don't mind it at all. even the fiancé doesn't mind anymore and she HATED it at first. give it a little time and then decide!

I have have the Muffled Track Pipe and have not noticed any drone at any speeds, even paired up to a catless header.

After you put some mileage on it to break it in, carbon buildup in the exhaust chambers will quiet down the exhaust. When I first installed my nameless setup, stupid loud, after putting some mileage of driving, it has quiet down significantly. Or maybe my ears have gotten use to it lol.

Got a vid of this?

I have the same exhaust and yes, it did drone a bit at around 3,000 rpms.

However, like mentioned above, either it has quieted down or I've just gotten used to it.

I did line the trunk with a cheap sound deadener, but I'm not sure that helped.

Like mentioned above, I'd suggest you just drive it for a few more weeks, to see if things mellow out .... :)

Low quality but hey, something is better than nothing!:bonk:

I had the same experience with my 3" Nameless axleback. Honestly when I installed a Nameless front /over pipe it solved my issue. It no longer was boomy in low rpms, when letting off throttle, and on highway.
