Permanent Optimum opti-coat 2.0 ??
 

Hello everyone,

Since yesterday I have been seeing videos of opti-coat 2.0 in action and it looks amazing. And I ordered one from Auto-Greek instantly, but after a little cooldown time some questions araised. I was just wondering has anyone used it yet? I think there's a owner did with a BR-Z used somewhere around here.

I have a few questions for those that have used it on there cars:
* I know I need to get the paint in perfect shape before applying opti-coat 2.0, however, what if you get rock chips or scratch in the future on the coated paint. Since its permanent, do I just do touch up on the paint and re-coat it?
* Opti-coat 2.0 sometimes just sounds too good to be ture...what are the pros and cons of it?
*Would I be able to take it off for what ever reason there might be?

Don't know on the first one, but the cons of it would be that it's not the absolutely BEST looking sealant ever. If you like waxing your car you might want to use something more pretty with less longevity.

You can also polish off the coating. Doesn't strip with use of dawn like most others.

Yes you can touch up spots as the new version can be layered. The cons are you need to polish it off, to get rid of it. It is shiny not warm like a nuba wax. It will reduce the longevity of anythung put on on top of it.
When touching up it is best to polish area first to make sure the new paint will stick.

Opti Coat can only be layered within a short period of time after the initial application. After 90 days, the Opti Coat will be fully cured and nothing, including more Opti Coat, will stick to it. The good thing is that you only need a polish like Menz Power Finish on a green pad to remove it so you could polish the panel, apply the touchup paint and after it hardens, apply your Opti Coat to that panel. As mentioned, it's not the best looking sealant ever, but it does look very good.
