Question - Black OEM Shift Knob Weight
Does anyone happen to have the weight of this shift knob?
http://www.ft86speedfactory.com/toyo...knob-1990.html I sent them a message, but never heard back. I love the shape of the OEM knob, but I'm interested in testing this one out if it happens to have a slightly heavier feel. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. :thanks: |
If this is OEM, it is probably the knob the use on the stripped JDM "base" model. It looks to me like a all-plastic version of the USDM plastic/metal/doeskin one. Just from the materials, I would guess that it is lighter than the USDM one.

This does look like the OEM knob from the lowest base model from japan. Basically it is just a cheap alternative to our factory one. Instead of leather and nice plastics it is just a rubber and plastic knob. I would expect it to weigh less and feel kind of cheesy. Just go sit in some subarus with plastic steering wheels and compare it to the cars with the leather ones. That will tell you the difference right there.

thanks for the replies guys. I was just curious because someone had posted a picture of it on the facebook group saying it was slightly heavier and that it felt like the ebrake handle. i do know the plastic material you're talking about on the wheels...had a rental corolla while the dealer replaced my transmission
