The guy at the bodyshop was not looking forward to doing it. He said he would do it as I am a loyal customer (read as: my wife crashes a lot).

Thanks for the advice, but when my employer is paying for the restoration and I prefer to get it done by professionals, it made sense to go this route in the end.

If I was you id try claying a small section to see if it corrects the problem. If it does, get ready to spend a few hours using the traditional Clay bars. PM me and ill help you.

wet sand with 3k grit than use meg ultimate compound and ultimate polish fastest way
or
meg ult compound for a good while till it comes off
