Jack Hollis, VP and General Manager of Scion, joins Jay for a top-to-bottom rundown on the heritage-inspired FR-S. Designed to go from road to track, its front-mounted flat Boxer engine cranks out 200 hp and a whole lotta fun driving!

Nice! Been waiting for this to be posted.

Not really a review, more like a Scion sponsored test drive/PR interview.

Bit of a stretch to call it a top to bottom run-down. When they opened the hood the Scion guy struggled to remember the capacity of the engine (two point... it's a two litre), then couldn't find much to talk about in the engine bay except the Toyota/Subaru logos on the rocker cover.

Jay came over as very bored for much of it, but he seemed to really like the car and thought there was a good demand for lightweight FR in the states.

Oh Jack Hollis, you never cease to amaze me with your cringe inducing lack of knowledge. http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/5844/facepalm.gif

He says there are a few special versions... can't wait to see what they have! Also, look at all the comments posted from all the muscle car guys  However, Hollis looks like he's on drugs, he looks really hyper because he shakes and he slurs a lot of his words, and on one shot his eyes were looking everywhere

Leno always sounds bored to me regardless of what he's doing, its just his style I think. Plus, with a "garage" like his, I would imagine its hard to get excited about any car to some extent.

Honestly, I rather enjoyed this. It sounded pretty much like every conversation I've had with folks in person on the car. It was more or less just a casual conversation about the car between two guys who enjoy talking about cars. Sure, it was a little forced, but most of these type segments on any show are.

By the way, Leno and Hollis standing together by this car make it look TINY! Jay is 5'11", and Hollis, well, over 6', not sure of his exact height.

I did like Jay's comment at the end about it being a "sports car" and not a "muscle car". I thought he was right on with that.

Don't really follow this guy, But was not a good review, clearly he wasn't interested in what the Scion VP had to say,

He had to ask how much it weighed 4 times..... douche

Yea, I noticed that too. Of course, if bad memory qualifies you as a douche, I guess sign me up. ;)

Again, it was an "OK" conversation about the car, definitely don't think it qualifies as a review.

I don't think that it is necessarily a lack of general knowledge but rather a lack of intimate knowledge that those of us who have been pouring over this car for years have without caring one bit about the other vehicles in the Scion line up (which he has to be concerned about as well). It also seems that he (Jack Hollis) isn't as comfortable in front of a camera knowing that if he makes one single gaffe that he will be raked over the coals about "not knowing anything about this car." His body language also hints as this as you can see in the beginning that he is unsure how to stand when he first comes on camera, he is somewhat stiff and not fully relaxed, he searches for the correct or right words to say, etc.

I have heard from many stories told by forum members here that he is a genuine and likable guy. Now he is forced into the position of being the cheerleader for the next "automotive messiah." I would say that he just needs some coaching on relaxing while in front of the camera.

Who thinks Jack Hollis' knowledge of the car extends only to the window sticker they put in it before they sell it?

xbladex0 06-18-2012 12:49 PM

totally agree with you but i think he did find when he revealed the car in the auto shows no?
