Turn Signal / Corner Light DRL Question
Does anyone know how to wire these lights? I bought them and tried installing them and just couldn't do it. :bonk: I only got the turn signal to work, I CANNOT get the DRL Bar to power for the life of me. There is a black wire and a red wire coming out of the back of the light and I assume that those are the wires directed towards that DRL Bar... will someone please tell me what to attatch those wires to?! http://m.ebay.com/itm/380861198657?_mwBanner=1

DRL wiring
Hi J McElwee,
It looks to me like you have two options for wiring those DRL's. First option is running an extra circuit from ignition power to the lights, and finding a decent chassis ground point to attach to near the assemblies on either side. This may be a bit time consuming, and would be a little difficult considering you would be routing your own wiring to both bumper corners. The other option is to splice into the side marker light at the front edge of the wheel arch. The latter option being the suggestion given by the manufacturer of the lights on your E-bay page, on one of the pictures. The front edge of the fenderliner is secured by four plastic clips with Phillips style heads, one near the light, and three down by the front bottom edge of the wheel arch. If you turn the steering wheel to the right, you can pop those clips pretty easily, peel back the liner and see the connector for the marker light tucked up in there. To get enough room to work, you'll probably have to take the front edge of the fender liner loose from the bumper and undertray, which you probably already did when installing these lens housings. If the DRL wiring doesn't have a connector or anything on it, you probably want to consider a pair of male / female heatshrink connectors, or a weatherpack terminal for easy removal and resistance to the elements. Try to avoid the clasp style "piggy-back" connectors, they don't really seem to hold up in the long run. Hope that helps! -Wally |
