Perfect example of a Z06 driver who's 100% dependent on traction/stability control
Watch how many times he just goes WOT in 2nd gear, during the corner...
Vette is on Hoosier A7. After the first lap or so, he can't overtake take a 475hp 991 GT3 in the straights because the Z06 overheats, and loses an insane amount of power [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9X2-sE4EcU"]Corvette Z06 Vs Porsche GT3 HEAD 2 HEAD f!@k MotorTrend - YouTube[/ame] |
I'm by no means an excellent driver but I thought for sure he was going into the tires/wall multiple times. Either that or cause a massive accident.

Edit: @6:15 You mad bro? |
Took me far too long to figure out that the car being driven is the Z06
No idea why he would publish this, 5:00-6:30 would embarrass the hell out of me. Edit: If I was driving the Porsche I would have let him by in the first minute or two, it's an HPDE christ. This is how cars go home on trailers. |
Magic at 14:45. Dude over revs and does not know how to shift up :bonk:
So many mis-shifts and there is no third pedal. :iono: So much ego. He early apexed more and more as time went on. Didn't listen to his instructor a few times too. |
Exactly why a pay full registration fees gladly. Have not and will not ever instruct anyone other than family and friends.
Not sure the point of the post? Directed at the cooling issues that the C7's are plauged with or the driver himself?? |
Initial impression - I'm surprised how good the Z06's PTM is. The driver just stands on the throttle mid-corner while holding steering input and PTM sorts it out like it's nothing. Not even a tail wag. Actually makes 650 hp look kind of boring? Personally I'd have more fun driving a car with 300 less hp with the nannies off and be able to rotate the car with the throttle/brakes.
Also surprised the student wasn't told to pit in after that sequence of corners at the 6:00 mark, ending with him screaming obscenities at the Porsche driver. Red mist moment for sure. If that driver ever decides to turn PTM off, God help whichever instructor is coaching him. |
That is full nanny mode BTW. The other settings will display on the PDR video when selected.

Video description is great

Idk about y'all, but if people drove that aggressively at the track days I work, they'd be black flagged immediately. |

We only do that sh*t when we're drunk, but they don't allow us on track when we're drunk :) |
Tanner Foust had trouble driving faster with nannies off.

Oh hey look, I can bank faster than him on ACS Roval w/ my street tires :)

Wow. I watched a couple minutes of that and just felt so uncomfortable I shut it down. Yikes.
|
O_o
|
I have no idea why the passenger has not asked to get out of the car before the driver stuck him into a wall... totally depressing to watch indeed.
I think God put a Z06 in the dudes' hand for a reason ... let's hope he doesn't hurt anybody in the process to meet his maker. |
The Vette was impressive: the driver was a f'in idiot.
|
I didn't watch most of the video, but the corvette driver seems to have some obvious issues, Porsche driver doesn't seem much better (who in their right mind would drive anywhere near that idiot corvette driver AND he wags the tail of the porsche pretty roughly which means he is loosing time to recover traction).
What really scares me though is that there would be a group that would allow someone with two half days of experience into what appears to be an open passing group. Also, WTF, where are the black flags from that BS? Corner workers know when things are about to get bendy and the event organizers should have heard... |

I couldn't watch it all, I kept cringing every other corner. And that 'pass' at around the 11:30 mark, dubya tee eff. I was half expecting Robert Duvall to start talking about love taps.
|
"Eat a d!ck you f*ckin little b!tch". LMAO!!!!! I lost it when I saw that.
Never mind the dude cut the fuckin track like 3 times. Dude drives like he's racing on Suzuka circuit in Gran Turismo. #imakemyownshortcuts |
Self driving cars can't come fast enough when I see this. Of course, it's obvious the car IS the one doing the hard part here...
I couldn't watch the whole thing either. Yikes. |
He sure had a death grip on that steering wheel ...

So it "Philip Hwang" the guy in the passenger seat? Or the driver? I'm confused
|
This is a pretty good advertisement for Chevy's vehicle control systems.
"Watch what happens when we put a complete idiot behind the wheel of our 650hp monster" The guy could be played by Karl pilkington. |

This driver seems extra aggressive and forceful, instead of smooth. He loves to throttle it out of those turns. You can even hear the computer clamping down and backing it off. Porsche driver is awful trusting. I probably would have went into the pits to get away from the guy. |
What's with all the swearing at 6:15?
Is this in Boston? |

An insult to Karl if that wasn't clear. |
Those lines...Use the track, there's so much room to apex and he used none of it but dips off track several times... Porsche could have held him longer if he wanted too but I wouldn't have trusted it nearly that long lol. It's not an actual race.
|
Modern car computers are too good... Darwin has got to be turning in his grave -_- .
|
Did he seriously adjust the stereo on the track?

He should have started to yell, "NEMESIS"

What a really scary video....the first lap or two would have had me smack him upside the head and park it. And I would NEVER run with this group! The Corvette has amazing electronics though to counterbalance this guys driving! |
I couldn't even watch the whole video. This guy sucks. What organization is this so I make sure to not attend one of their events?
|

It is unbelievably uncomfortable to watch that whole video...both the driver and the instructor should not be allowed back out. Period. |
