College Graduate Program Question
Have any of yall bought a FR-S and got the college grad program? I have been quoted at 2 different dealers who said I qualified. But when I went to a dealer this past Saturday 6/16 and talked to the dealer about one they had on the lot they said that the FR-S was not eligible for the college grad program. Any feedback would be helpful.

all scion cars are eligible for college rebate.
your dealer is ripping you off then |
It qualifies, dealer doesn't know what they're talking about.

AFIK my dealer says I'm good for the College Grad program for my FRS. They ran my numbers and I'm getting a loan from Toyota, I think I would have gotten some sort of red flag before getting approved. That said, my car won't be delivered for another month so we'll see.

It should be eligible, I was able to get mine with it. But then again, in the fine print it does say it may not be available in all states. Did you ask them why they aren't allowing it? You also said you got quoted by two dealerships. Have you spoken to the other one as well regarding the program?

:paddle: God some dealers man... I just don't get it :mad0259:

I was told in Florida (by the regional manager no less) that the FR-S didn't qualify and refused to do it. I don't like Florida much.

The rebate is a Toyota program (not dealer-specific). I imagine Toyota Corporate would not be too happy that dealers are misrepresenting a Toyota promotion. My dealer had no problem with the rebate, which requires financing through the dealer. And the dealer website clearly states that those taking advantage of the college graduate program automatically qualify for their "Zone 1" financing rates (best available, usually reserved for those with FICO above 720). All that's required is a copy of your diploma and job acceptance letter.
EDIT: The fine print on scion.com does mention that these programs are "offered through your participating Scion dealer and Toyota Financial Services." However, if they are offering the rebate on any cars, they are participating and should be offering the rebate on the FR-S. |
I got it on mine here in Cali without problems.

Be aware the program ends on the 9th of July 2012 (next month)
This fact is making me pull the trigger on the purchase. |

I qualified for the rebate as a current enrolled grad student.
At first the, GM at my dealership questioned the eligibility of the FR-S for the education rebate and initially said no. But i told him to check the FR-S print brochure as it explicitly states the education rebate. He looked at, copied it, and then approved me for the rebate. :) So if your salesman denies eligibility, tell him/her to check the FR-S print brochure for proof. |
Thanks for the help. I am going to talk to that dealer today again. The other two I dealers was quoted by who told me I qualified had marked up their FR-S by $1200 so I found another dealer and they had the one in stock. Hopefully they will see that it is eligible today and I get my FR-S soon.

I asked about the grad program at Scion corporate. They said it was covered. I bought my FR-S with the discount too. There's a post on here somewhere by Mattles where he lists the contact phone numbers for all of the Scion regional managers. If can't find a dealer that doesn't suck, give 'em a call.
