RACESENG X PENSKE | The Ultimate Racing Shocks

We've been working with Penske Racing shocks for the past couple months to create several shock packages for the FR-S/BRZ. The shock packages will range from an entry level single adjustable to a four-way adjustable system.

We are early on in the process but I wanted to start sharing some of the progress. Subscribe and stay tuned for more information!

We just started machining the Penske custom rear top mounts. These will allow the Penske spring perch to sit up into the chassis giving some extra rear stroke travel! We are checking the critical fit of the spherical bearing bore on the first piece.

I'll take some more machining progress shots tomorrow!

Cool; it will be interesting to see what you guys come up with. Do you think you'll include your CasCams or another adjustable top hat as part of the coilover, or keep them separate?

WhiteFRS69 06-10-2015 06:24 PM

awesome!

sub!

I like where this is going! Any chance you have extremely rough guesstimates on price ranges?

ryoma 06-10-2015 08:09 PM

will you be providing an entire coilover assembly option or just the shocks?

BatStig 06-10-2015 10:43 PM

Tell me more.....

The front and rear shocks will be integrated with custom Raceseng top mounts. We decided to go with custom top mounts to maximize the features of the shocks.

I wish we could afford a big boy Okuma, Mori, DMG... etc! Our first cnc machine was a Bridgeport 3 axis knee mill retrofitted with a cnc control. It was given to us from the manufacturing company my Dad worked for. We machined these uprights on that machine, it took 22 hours per upright!

http://www.raceseng.com/media/wysiwyg/2009-1.jpg

We've been scratching and crawling ever since trying to upgrade our equipment but acquiring that kind of capital without large manufacturing contracts is very difficult. We use what we have and try to get the absolute most out of it!

hoooooooooooly jebus, my wallet hurts. My suspension squeaks at the sight of this

Sammakko 06-10-2015 11:15 PM

subscribed.

i do love my Koni coilovers, buuuuut.....

ryoma 06-10-2015 11:32 PM

I'm curious to see how the finished product will compare against others in its price range. I'm assuming Penske is custom valving the shocks to the spring rate?

x1UP 06-11-2015 12:41 AM

Very interested in what you guys come up with here and what pricing you will offer. I'm in the market for some suspension upgrades and I was thinking of going the Ohlins route.

However, if you guys can provide something similar or better in the same price range as the Ohlins, i'm all for it...

Subbed.

i'm interested, provided rebuilds aren't astronomically expensive. Koni charges basically the cost of inserts..

Captain Snooze 06-11-2015 03:21 AM

Will buyers be able to specify spring rates? Will you be offering different valving for different spring rates?

Im fairly sure these are completely custom :) choose a spring rate then they will valve to match.

endless_pain 06-11-2015 08:58 AM

Incredible. Thanks working on this for our cars.
Cant wait for pricing.

redlined600 06-11-2015 01:01 PM

How many systems are you planning on releasing?

BatStig 06-12-2015 02:10 PM

Why don't I know abso everything about these coilovers yet? :brokenheart:

CSG David 06-12-2015 02:20 PM

@Raceseng Let us know when you're ready. ;)

Solution: just get DMG MORI to sponsor you.

Oh, and just to show how serious I am about you guys doing this: Ohlins will be for sale towards the end of this year.

Truth. Luckily for me, suspension upgrade isn't planned until next year.

Hope you dont want any other mods next year either. This would eat that budget up faster than a fat kid eating cookies.

jvincent 06-12-2015 03:36 PM

Suspension is the only mod left! Really. No really. :)

I will probably need a new set of tires next year, but those come out of the "consumables" budget.

That's My plan as well. The question is: can I behave myself until then?

You're the BatStig.
Just hope this kit isn't available in black or white and you'll be okay.

Ill take a guess. Half the price of the car.

For the 4-way adjustable system he mentioned, you're probably right. I know JRZ's 4 way coilover is about $14K.

For the 1- and 2-way systems, I would estimate somewhere between the price of the Ohlins R&T and RCE Clubsport, so $3-4.5K. Penske makes awesome stuff, but it's expensive. For instance, the FIGS/Penske 2-way for an IS350 is $4800.

cdrazic93 06-12-2015 06:57 PM

JRZ's 1431's are rediculous, probably what would be useful on nothing less than Evasive's pikes peak time attack car.

Stevemachine17 06-13-2015 12:54 AM

Sounds sick! I'll be anxiously awaiting news from you guys :)
