Quotes from a guy on S2ki who frequently seems to have insider information:

"Base model will be a 2.0T, RWD only, with 6MT. Optional (hybrid) model will be the 2.0T with electric motors up front and the other electrical motor sandwiched between the DCT and the ICE. 300-330 hp in the base car, closer to 400 hp in the hybrid car. Allegedly green-lighted for full production but still about two years away from being in a showroom.

This is the baby NSX, estimated base price of about $55K with the hybrid running to high $70K or low $80K. In the big scheme, it's the "S2000 replacement" in terms of where it fits on the sportscar hierarchy.

However, there are plans for a lesser model (different design) that is very lightweight (under 2300 lbs) with a fairly small engine (1.0T) with hybrid setup (still RWD only) to push out about 220 hp in the highest trim level. That would be more like an S2000 in terms of being fairly low-weight, moderately powered and still quite quick."

Talk about belonging to a very un-profitable demographic... I want lightweight and low HP.

Give me under 2300lbs and ~200hp.. yes please. Although I'd really like under 2300lbs and just under 200hp with a NA 4 banger.

What a whiner lol "OH NO I DON'T WANT THAT TURBO AND 20 extra HP!!! KEEP IT AWAY!!!"

<2300lbs w/ NA ~200hp Honda motor would be awesome...

Looking forward to seeing what comes of this 'baby NSX'

<2300lbs is probably kind hard..... Since S660 is already @ 1900? That thing is tiny.

Fake titties may be bigger too.. but they're still fake titties. I guess I just like NA.

I am still surprised at how many people are confused that some folks just don't like FI... in their sports cars.

I'd like a Turbo-Diesel truck. I'd even like a turbo/hybrid commuter but sports cars.. I like good ol' fashioned NA.

Wait, naturally aspirated titties?

Hybrid systems don't age well. There isn't a 10+ year old hybrid system that has.

What exactly is fake about a turbocharged engine? You're essentially forcing more air in causing greater explosions and making more power than possible otherwise. That's both cool as fuck and very efficient.

Fake titties are fake. FI isn't fake.. You extrapolated the wrong intent, either that or the message was poorly delivered.

For someone who likes dem titties natural, fake may be bigger but to the natural titty loving man, that doesn't make them preferable (preferable = subjective term).

So a turbo may make an engine more powerful or even more efficient but to the natural aspirated loving man it doesn't make FI preferable. I also think power is boring and rwd is too "easy" (albeit a ton of fun). So I'm definitely a contrarian on this forum, but then again that's also why I prefaced my original post as stating I'm in a very small minority and unprofitable sales demographic.

Mysterious Honda sportscar patent designs emerge, could be new S2000?

Quote:

Appears to be a concept

Several patent images showing a new Acura sportscar have surfaced the Internet.

The identity of the vehicle is not known at this point, but judging by the fact that it has cameras instead of conventional side mirrors this is a forthcoming concept likely to be shown at a major auto show. In terms of design, it resembles the second generation NSX and seems to have a mid-engine layout while the rear end hosts a massive diffuser.

That black roof could be detachable and this might be a sign of a concept previewing an NSX Roadster although it's too early for that as deliveries of the coupe haven't even started yet. Whatever it is, the patent images were registered on May 27 with the U.S. Patent Office and judging by the overall styling the concept will use the Acura badge. If it will be labeled as a Honda, this might serve as a sneak preview for an S2000 successor.

Power is highly subjective, but I'd say most enjoy the thrill of acceleration no matter their level of interest in engine layout or suspension design.

As for RWD being "too easy".......... wat? compared to what exactly? RWD = more pure, more dangerous, & less grip than AWD = therefore, inherently the opposite of "too easy"... although I don't really get what you were meaning there. haha.

Well, it could be argued that the Prius has aged well.
But in any case, even your statement is true, it does not follow that 10 years from now that would still be the case. Progress...

Personally, I love the idea of a non-hybrid rwd version and a hybrid awd version with electric motors up front. I'm a fan of simplicity and rwd and saving a few bucks, so I know which one I would get.
