Help, OFT

I am looking for someone local who can help me with downloading a stage 2 tune into my OFT. I have been trying since I received my OFH and I simply can't get it. I know nothing about computers and this honestly is beyond me. If you can help I am in St. Pete. and will gladly come to you. PM me here or call 727 800 2248. For some reason even local people sometimes have to use the area code. Thanks, Bill

Its a little bit of a drive, but if you want to drive to the Sarasota area, I can help you out. Im running a Stage 2 E85 UEL tune right now. I would highly recommend that if you have the ability to get E85 in your area. It makes driving the car feel amazing. Yes, I have to drive 15 minutes from my work to fill up every week or so, but the smile on the face is worth it, OH, and I get to spend more time with my car.

I would have no problem driving to Sarasota.

OFT might not be the best choice if you're not a very technical person. You might want to have someone else tune the car for you.

Part of running an off the shelf tune is being able to data log and monitor it for safety -- this demands some level of technical ability.

I don't think it requires any technical ability. Just some basic information on what's normal and what's not in regards to knock, A/F ratios, timing, etc..

Edit: Tons of useful information here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...01#post1842501

It CAN require some level of technical ability, if you're getting into making your own changes or using it as a display device or something like that. If all you're doing is downloading the latest stage 2 map through OFM and flashing your car, it's pretty straightforward and user-friendly.

The OFT is easy to use. I won't be doing anything other than loading the shelf tune in it. The problem is I can't get a tune to download into the OFT.

It's quite easy, this is a 5 sec tutorial:

1a- Download the latest OTS roms (Download Here, files are at the bottem.
1b- Extract the zip file to a easy to remember location
2- connect OFT
3- Open OpenFlash Manager and let it update
4- Upload correct Rom to OFT
(choose the folder icon and go to the folder with your correct CalID,
select the correct tune (stg1, stg2 UEL, E85)
the CalID can be viewed in the screen above 2. Tuning File Editing, mine is a A00G)
5- Press Start, let it finish
6- When completly done, connect to car
7- Flash to car

I am in Orlando this week for work, but I am familiar with OFT.

Make sure to first connect OFT to your car in full accessories mode (engine not on), and let it download the stock ROM (follow the "Read" instructions) onto OFT before you load updated maps onto your OFT from your computer.
