Tint shop butchered my window seals

I'm so pissed right now I could spit fire. My brand new baby is all cut up. I will be calling them first thing in the morning to work this out. Has anyone else had this happen and if so, were you able to replace these seals easily?

That's pretty bad - definitely raise hell with them.

I'm sorry to hear that this happened, and best of luck with getting it resolved, or some sort of compensation for it; I would write them an honest review on Yelp, or similar that includes the images you've posted here.

Lol

Lol. Did you go to the $99 special in the hood? I've seen people with razor cuts through the paint going the length of the door going to places like that.

At least rubber seals are easily replaced. Good luck with the shop.

ouch, didnt notice it when you picked it up???

I used to want a tint.

Then the topic came up with a young engineer at my workplace who used to work for a tint shop in high school. Even way back then he was horrified at how careless his coworkers were with cars. Horror stories of haphazard soap sprayed onto leather, cut-up window seals...

Now I'm scared to have it done. :-/

Sorry man. Hope you can prove it and make them accountable.

Find a Llumar-authorized installer, and you'll be set. All the pieces are laser-cut to Llumar's exact specifications for your car, and the fact that Llumar is ok associating their name to the installer usually means they do a quality job. I know mine did an exceptional job.

I got ATR-20 before I moved out to Las Vegas. In retrospect I should have gotten 15 or 5, but I underestimated the sun out here.

As long as you have a reputable shop that installs it it should be fine. Just check the reviews, I'm sure theres a place close to you that is capable of doing it just fine without any issues.

I did go to a nice shop. I had my wife's new Cruze tinted there and had no issues. I've seen this same shop do Ferrari's and Bentley's. The whole job ran me $565. All the reviews show this was a good tint shop. :iono:

Nope. I noticed the tint was kinda off but didn't notice the cuts. I'm filing a claim with my insurance and they will bill the shop. The guy was a total **** about it when I went back there yesterday.

$565 to tint the FRS???

wtf... only cost me $145 with lifetime warranty, been two years, zero problems

ditto. the most i've seen charged is around $200, and that was for my 4dr civic. ended up finding a shop that did it for around 160.

BRZ FTW 06-10-2015 12:03 AM

It was $279 for all sides + $225 for the whole windshield(clear 3M tint) and tax. I went back today and talked to the other owner(the son of the old man that gave me sh!t) and he really wants to make things right. So, we will see how it goes. I need to go to Subaru for a quote. If that doesn't work out I will file it through my insurance like I was originally going to do.
