Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge.

Anyone watching this race right now? It's on SPEED channel until 1pm central.

I tend to like these races more than the LeMans because all these cars are tuned street cars, and there's a greater variety.

No need to downplay Le Mans...

Anyway I'm going to turn on speed and see what you're talking about.

'Not really trying to downplay LeMans-- i'm just expressing my preference for ST class racing.

Wow so the Ford Mustang and Honda Civics won.

Yeah, I think this series is the most fun to watch (and I was at Le Mans last weekend :) ).

They're practicing at Road America today. My buddy BJ is up there in the Doran Racing Nismo 370z. :D

Yeah this is my favorite type of racing. I was at Mid-Ohio for the race. Reminds me of the old Trans Am series from the sixties and early seventies when Chevy, Ford, Chrysler and AMC were going at it with souped up street cars.

Both the GS class and ST class are really competitive. The Subaru WRX won the race before this and placed third the previous race. Unfortunately, reliability issues have been their downfall. Still cool to watch them hound the Porsches, Mustangs and Camaros though.

I am hoping that someone will field a BRZ or FR-S in ST next year.

Billy Johnson (Winner with Roush Racing) daily drives an NSX so a bunch of us were watching. Awesome racing at Mid-Ohio this time around. Lots of rubbing, bumping, and straight out thuggery. Was a lot of fun to watch.

You should have seen it last year when Joey Hand in the BMW basically used the Roush Mustang, which was leading for brakes, at the end of the back straight! He went on to claim victory leaving the Mustang with a nice t-bone dent in the side of it. Talk about thug driving!

By the way, Johnson also won the GT class in a BMW later the in the day this year. Pretty impressive.

Actually just finished watching the Mid-Ohio race from the DVR. It was a doozy. :)
