BRZ vs RX7 FC3S
 

Well guys, I've been shopping around lately about buying my next car. I am no longer interested in the WRX/STi, Focus RS, Civic Si. I am interested in the 987 Cayman S or the FC3S. Found a great Turbo II, I think it's a great platform for potential power. This will be my second FC but this time it's a turbo. I love the old school 13B and the rotary. What do you guys think?

Rotary is one of those things, you either like it or your dont. And then there is working on it and the little quirks that they have. The gas mileage is the worst thing for me. But that sound though.

I would love one to death. But can't fit comfortably lol. As a second car I say go for it. 7's are some of my favorite cars of all time.

If you get the 7, hit me up. Mine went to its great reward and I have lots of cool parts with nothing to bolt them to.

I've owned 4 subarus in my lifetime, 2003 WRX, 2005 STi, 2012 WRX, 01 2.5RS. Time to move on, looking for something with a more mechanical feel. I'm an old fan of 80's and 90's sports car. Im born in the mid 80's. Have you ever driven an FC? It feels very mechanical and you don't feel all them electronic gizmo. It has its own character. I just know that I won't be happy with a BRZ because of the power and torque dips. I know that you can remedy those stuff but I don't really like to follow the crowd. I've looked into buying a Cayman S, 987.1 or 987.2. Those cars fit in my $35,000 budget.

By "character" you mean the electrical system, right? ;)

Sounds like you already know what you want, never driven an FC. Love the FD though.

Torque dip remedy is only about $1,000. I too love the lightweight underpowered Japanese FR cars, hence why I'm driving a modern one XD. I'm hoping my next car will be a new Cayman S, those 2015s are seeeeexxxxxy.

I like Rotary's...I want to eventually get a first gen one...

Like you, I also love those 80's cars (have owned 3 AW11 MR2s...may eventually get another...I always have my eye open for a good one lol).

Warning...as far as owning a Rotary or an older car...your enjoyment will come a lot from picking a "good one" and also know how to fix the little things.

I can fix the little things, but I cannot fix the big things...so picking a "good one" is really important for me.

If you can do lots of mechanic stuff, you can probably do better at picking than me.

Is there anything wrong with the Mk.3 poopra? The cayman is what i would have shopped for if i didnt look at the 86.

Theres also older 911 S/C's that are just a kick in the pants. Dont forget about the Pantera. E30 M3 perhaps?

I know, right? I've often had the mindset of "she's ugly but she puts out" with some cars, but the new STi is just too ugly for TV. Would. Not. Buy.
