AC Humming/Whining
 

Hey guys,

My AC starting making a high pitched humming/whining noise when turned on past the 2nd or 3rd level. The pitch goes higher if I turn the AC higher.

I first noticed the noise right after it sounded like something was stuck in the vent. I turned the AC to max and heard something like a leaf or paper moving around and then is stopped, but now I hear humming/whining.

Is there any way I can check to see if something is stuck inside the AC vents? Or should I be looking at the cabin air filter?

I'm out of warranty and Subaru wants $120 just to look into it. I figure I'll try to fix it myself or just deal with it.

I'd suggest you first look at the cabin filter ...... then into the vents, as far as you can see/reach.

Maybe run it on full with the filter removed for a spell ..... maybe it will blow something out ..:iono:

Is ac low?

Speaking of ac, every time it kicks in higher, is there a chirp or click coming from the front of engine? If so, tighten the pulley. Worked on mine. Also had to losen belt.
