OEM Footwell Lighting Behaviour

Does anyone know if it is possible to change the OEM footwell lighting to light up with the dome lights instead of the always on with the interior night lighting? If so how?

I am finding it distracting when driving, but would like it as I am getting in/out of the car. This was how I had assumed it worked when I ordered it, and was kind of surprised once it was installed.

It's possible, but you would have to run a wire from your domelight. If your car comes standard with courtesy lights, you may also use those wires.

I was under the same impression that it was only on when you entered/exiting the car. If that's the case it's coming of my BRZ pre-order sheet tomorrow.

From the factory the lights don't turn on until the car starts and they are on any time the interior night lighting/headlights are on. If your dealership tells you different let me know I'd be interested in having them contact my dealer to get it set up with the dome light in my car.

You could wire it to your door open/close detector. It the black button only veiwable with door open. Take off some of the door panelling and tuna wire to it. Will only turn on when doors open. It's what the dome light uses to detect it,
