Tuning my 86
 

Recently installed Invidia N1 Exhaust and Mid-pipe and I want to get her tuned. Any reccomendations in the San Diego Area? This is my first car to ever be tuned.

Check out Delicious Tuning. I follow TJ Hunt on youtube and he has a BRZ tuned by them that is pretty nice.

Keep in mind if you get it tuned, you'll [most likely] void your warranty.

Warranty ended back at 25k. I'm at 32k now. Thanks for the warning though.

I could be wrong, but I think basic warranty ends at 36k and drivetrain warranty ends at 60k miles.

Maybe i should look in to it more lol. I know it ended at 25k, Idk if I have Drivetrain warranty though. I do everything on my own anyway so I don't care about voiding my warranty.

The internet tells me it's 3 year/36K mile basic, 5 year/60K mile powertrain. If you only added a catback and a midpipe, it doesn't really need a tune. Unless you want a stage 1 flash on it. The header is where a tune really unlocks power.

Ah i see. I'm just using the car as a daily driver and don't track it. I haven't had a reason to go to the dealer tbh. Should i get the header next or the overpipe? Seems like thats where all the gains come from.

If you're going to get an actual custom tune, then get them both before your tune. Matter of fact, get an intake while you're at it. This way you get the most out of it.

The additional power will come from a header and a tune. Do the header for power, do the rest of the exhaust for sound. A UEL header will have more rumble to it, but there are a lot of threads on UEL vs. EL headers. Also, it will make your exhaust much louder. You might find that the N1 becomes too loud once you add a header.

You also need to remember CARB and emissions inspections as well. The OEM header has a catalytic converter in it, and I don't know of any aftermarket headers that are CARB-compliant.
